This is a great IPA for a non-hophead. It’s got strong hoppiness, but balanced with a sweet, if not syrupy, chewiness. I didn’t find the nose all that strong, but with the flavor came orange and grapefruit mainly. There were some undertones of honey on the nose if you pay close attention. The palate is sophisticated with a moderate thickness to start followed by a moderately dry finish.

Great flavor one of my favorite beers. A double IPA that does not taste overly hoppy.

Big, slightly nutty, sweet malt upfront followed by concentrated orange citrus, yellow peach and dried apricot in the middle. Big, powerful, long finish echoing sweet orange citrus, ripe peach, apricot and bitter grapefruit rind. Smooth and full-bodied, with creamy, fine carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. There is definitely big hops in this beer, though they trend toward ripe, sweet, stonefruit, orange and tropical flavors, and not the fresh, resinous herb nuances. Should be let come up in temperature if pulled straight from the fridge. Overall, good, though I think I prefer more fresh, resinous herbs to stonefruit in my IPA's in general.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
My first mission beer (I also have their IPA in the fridge). Pours a hazy amber/orange color with tan head. Aroma is citrus with some sweetness (caramel). Taste is similar with hop bitterness as well as some sweet caramel malt. The body is medium and I am surprised the abv is over 9%. Not a bad beer but compared to other DIPAs it is well below average.

22oz bomber This was purchased at Whole Foods in Western Henrico. The ale poured a cloudy light amber color. The head was white froth with large bubbles and lacing. The clerk at the Whole Foods recommended the IPA. It has a clean aroma with some sweet pine and citrus. A smooth beverage with very deceptive alcohol. Could use some bitterness in the finish. The body was light and the carbonation was soft. This brewery may be worth visiting.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Medium sized tan head with fair retention and lace. Clear, copper color. Soft nose of pine and citrus, spicy. Body is medium with a soft carbonation, lil resiny and juicy. Moderately sweet malts, pine, grapefruit, earthiness. Fairly dry finish with a somewhat harsh bitterness, weird. 12oz bottle from statelineliquors.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle. Pours dark amber with a large frothy off white head that settles to a creamy looking foam and lacing. Aroma is very malt forward with mild, but noticeable dry hops that are earthy and piny. Taste is malty caramel and biting bitterness with dry piny resinous hops and pepper. Palate is full and sticky with a chalky drying finish. Not bad, but very malt forward!

On draft at the Livermore Saloon. It pours an orange/gold color with an off white head. The aroma has lots of caramel, toffee and some orange citrus. The flavor has more caramel toffee, orange and subtle piney bitterness in the finish. This is bordering on American barley wine territory for me.... except for the color. Not bad, but I wouldn’t order this again.
