COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A style of beer curiously born on the foggy shores of Father Junipero Serra’s first founding mission. Our own vigorous entry is one rebellious IPA, quick on the trigger, and brimming with a bounty of hop ingenuity. This is a big, bold, brazen beer, a restless vision of a new America.

Bottle from Slowbeer. Great taste, in the malty side. Aromas of liquorice, cherry, and caramel. Taste is sweet and bitter, very long length. Palate is syrupy, and full bodied. Amber, with a frothy head.

A decent IIPA. Pours a slightly cloudy dark orange with a sizable off white head. Nose is hops, somewhat piney and spicy. Flavor is similar, thought the hops are more subdued than I had expected. Overall, a good but not great offering in the style.

12oz bottle shared. Poured murky orange with a short lasting whiter head. Minimal lacing on the glass. Nice hoppy aroma grassy citrus. The flavor is not as strong as whAt you think for a dipa. More mellow than expected. Has some off sweetness in the middle, presuming its malt related. Overall not quite what I like for a dipa but ok otherwise.

Bottle. Clear copper with a fine white head that fades but laces well. Aroma of bread, earthy yeast, caramel, peaches, pine, kumquats, alcohol. Syrupy with low carbonation. Very sweet with peaches and oranges as well as caramel before a firm bitter finish. Pine lingers. Boozy. OK, but doesn’t offer a great deal for its strength except its strength.

330mL bottle. Pours deep golden with a very small white head and a faint fruit tingle like aroma. Amazing fruity/piney flavour with a massive sweetness that balances the bitterness well and hides the alcohol.

Dark amber with a large white head. Very sweet with caramel and a hint of citrus. Alcohol not well disguised. Not very hoppy.

The aroma is nice with good hop balance. Yeast contribution is acceptable, slightly fruity. But the lasting impression is the bitter finish. It ’s too much.

Definitely a bold, brazen double IPA. Cloudy Amber. A little too bitter, not enough malty smoothness.

Bottle. Orange, apricot., and biscuity caramel malt aroma. Hazy orange with a small off-white head. Caramel malt, orange peel, and piney hops flavor. Medium to full, slightly sticky body, moderate carbonation.

12 oz. bottle, consumed on 4-19-13. Sweet aroma features muffin, port, cookie, toffee, brownie, golden raisin, and caramel scents. Smells much more like a typical barley wine than a typical double IPA. Pours a hazy, effervescent, golden copper. Moderate amount of yellow/golden-taupe head. Produces good lacing. Initially dry but ultimately quite sweet taste features apricot, brown sugar, toffee, cookie, and biscuit flavors. Medium body. Silky and lively in the palate. Palate effects do not stand out. Overall, this seems much more like a barley wine than an IPA. Regardless of the style, it’s a good beer. 8/4/8/3/15=>3.8
