COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A style of beer curiously born on the foggy shores of Father Junipero Serra’s first founding mission. Our own vigorous entry is one rebellious IPA, quick on the trigger, and brimming with a bounty of hop ingenuity. This is a big, bold, brazen beer, a restless vision of a new America.

corby112 (2214) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 2, 2012
Draft at Hamilton’s in San Diego. Pours a hazy dark golden orange color with a half finger white head that immediately disappears. Not much in the way of lacing. Slightly earthy aroma with very muted hop character.  Subtle grass, pine and floral hops with a touch of citrus and lots of alcohol. Medium bodied with a strong bitter hop presence up front that’s quickly countered by tropical fruit and alcohol.  Again, the hops are muted by light fruit and sweet booze.  Hints of apricot,  pineapple, grapefruit and orange peel but it’s kind of weak.

(22oz bomber) clearish orange, offwhite head that lasts. Nose of herbs, fresh hops, orange peel. Taste of bitter citrus peel, syrupy, medium to thick body.

On tap at Long Beach Yard House. A bit of sweetness but barely any aroma on this one. Some mild floral notes. Medium heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Deep golden amber clear with thin white lacing head. Starts sweet with pale malt, sugar, and alcohol. Fruity hop finish but not harsh. Smooth sweet after, sugary with a hint of bitter.

Serious nose here...but it is actually malty, and I mean really malty. Hops are really piney but not citrusy. Color is deep amber with a fading head. This is a really good beer with a alcohol finish. You know you have something heavy here

Really good version of an IPA, but rustic amd lacking clarity, some piny resinous hops with a malty backdrop, great orange copper color, the aftertaste is a bit of a dissapointment, but definitely a drinkable beer.

12oz Bottle. Purchased at Wakefield Liquors - Wakefield, RI. Clean, but restrained nose of even high hops. Okay, I’m a sucker for Double IPAs. But sometimes, brewers screw up and make them too sweet and too boozy and they’re not worthy spending $3.50 on a twelve ounce bottle. This is one of those. Next, please.

Poured from a draft into a pint glass at San Diego Brewing Company on March 16, 2012. Color was hazy caramel. About one finger of head. Light film on lacing on the top. Even amount of cobweb film on the sides. Got a deep whiff of citrus hops, probably lemon. Fairly balanced but nothing too special overall. Not too much citrus in the taste, but very bitter. Can really taste the alcohol. Kind of smooth. Lots of different things going on in the taste. Medium body. Slight texture. Average carbonation,. Bitter, but smooth finish. Just an OK double IPA. It had its moments but I wouldn’t go out of my way to have another one.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a thick, lacing head. Huge hoppy aroma. Thick citrus notes. Chewy. Dry, hoppy finish. Nice balance and the alcohol is masked. Very impressive brew.

This one is piney with a lot of caramel, some citrus, the bitterness isn’t too high. Just not that great in the end.

glennmastrange (2311) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - MAR 16, 2012
Bottle. Moderate malt and hop aromas of roasted, caramel, perfume and cooked orange, with date and honey in the background. Head is averag size, frothy, off-white with some slippery lacing and good legs, and is mostly diminishing. Color is slightly hazy, medium orange. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately bittersweet and lightly acidic. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily with a soft carbonation. Perfect malt and hop balance in the aroma of this DIPA, maybe a bit too sweet for the style, but still way above average.
