COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A style of beer curiously born on the foggy shores of Father Junipero Serra’s first founding mission. Our own vigorous entry is one rebellious IPA, quick on the trigger, and brimming with a bounty of hop ingenuity. This is a big, bold, brazen beer, a restless vision of a new America.

Picked up a bomber bottle at a Sprouts market in San Diego, CA. Poured it into a snifter. Pours a fairly clear amber color with a foamy off-white head. Big, heavy aroma of sweet, spicy orange peel and alcohol. Flavors are very rich, full and caramelly, with a mellow bitterness and an underlying "can’t quite put my finger on what fruit" tang that lasts. Shipwrecked also has lingering, mouth-coating oily mouthfeel. Overall, this is pretty darn good, with some interesting twists and turns.

12 fl oz bottle from Finger Lakes Beverage, served cool in a tulip glass. 12DE11.

App.: Cloudy deep orange-amber with a fair orange-tan head. Aroma: Brothy/mashy, sweet, fruity caramel, peppery and spicy, a little alcohol, rye bread crust and big grapefruit C-hops, peach/apricot, a little floral. Palate: Medium+ body, medium-low effervescence, slick. Flav.: Big, juicy grapefruit, a little resin/pine, big, crunchy, sweet caramel, peach/apricot fruitiness, brown sugar, still a bit savoury/brothy/mashy; sweet with decent bitterness and a long pine/caramel finish.

Yarrrr.

A golden amber color and very clean. The aroma is floral and piney and some malt character is coming out. The flavor is piney as well, but not overly astringent as I find piney beer to be. There is a medium to medium low body with a biscuity malt flavor perceptible underneath. It is nice and creamy, but the piney aftertaste is throwing me off. It also finished a tad dry.

Cask at RnH. Pours a clear orange with a thin white head. Aroma of acetone, hop oils, sweet caramel malt. Flavor of sweet caramel malt, citrusy fruits, hop oils, grassy hops. Pretty strong with alcohol dominant. Just ok. 7/4/7/3/14 (3.5/5)

The beer is a copper-orange color with a medium foamy off-white head that dissipates slowly to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops, malt and caramel. Medium body with flavors of piney hops, citrus and grainy malt, plus a bit of tropical fruit. The finish is hoppy with a grapefruit and caramel aftertaste. Above average overall.

Taste is almost tart, with a bitterness appearing late in the very thick offering which hides the alcohol well. Overdoses the tastebuds a bit. Definitely something which may have a one or two per session limit both for it’s high alcohol and overwhelming taste.

Pours orange amber with a white head that quickly dissipated to a film. Aroma is florals, pine, citrus and just a hint of caramel. Taste is bittersweet with the bitterness lingering on the.finish. Slick mouthfeel with medium body. Alcohol is hidden well. Overall I enjoyed the bitters and how they stuck around.

Pours a clear dark golden yellow with a thin fizzy white head and good lacing. Aroma is big pine hops and sweet hop. Taste is a beautiful blast of pine hops, great bitterness and sweet malts that balance this out. Great beer.

12oz bottle in a snifter. Pours copper with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma strong of citrusy/piney hops plus some caramel and light cereal malts. Flavor about the same, but it seems lighter on the hops than the aroma suggests. Average texture. A decent beer, but not the best of the style.
