Bottle - Pours lightly hazy amber with a thin off-white head. Nose is sweet and buttery, with lots of toffee. The hops aren’t really pronounced, but there’s some light herbal hopping and some mellow pine. Taste is about the same--sweet and sticky, with pine and light grass hops. Long, sweet and slick finish, with a big thick body. Perhaps this one wasn’t the freshest as I got it from the mix-6 section, but not sure. Just too sweet and sticky for my tastes.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2012 Man this thing great. Really handcrafted taste here. A soft mellow honey flavor to balance out the beautiful bouquet of hops. Wow wow wow. One of the best. Really it’s almost a barleywine. Barley wine sweetness. This is a badass beer man.

Bomber from Discount. Pours an unclear orangey-copper with an off white/orange head. Terrific lacing; literally stuck to the glass in spots as I got down through the glass. Aroma has pine, citrus and resin. Taste is of sweet pine, caramel, heavy chewy resin and bitter grapefruit. Solid components for a nice IIPA. Alcohol showed more and more throughout the glass. Finishes bittersweet and alcoholly. It was very nice, a nudge less alcohol and bitterness and this would be terrific.

This is a great IPA for a non-hophead. It’s got strong hoppiness, but balanced with a sweet, if not syrupy, chewiness. I didn’t find the nose all that strong, but with the flavor came orange and grapefruit mainly. There were some undertones of honey on the nose if you pay close attention. The palate is sophisticated with a moderate thickness to start followed by a moderately dry finish.

Great flavor one of my favorite beers. A double IPA that does not taste overly hoppy.

Big, slightly nutty, sweet malt upfront followed by concentrated orange citrus, yellow peach and dried apricot in the middle. Big, powerful, long finish echoing sweet orange citrus, ripe peach, apricot and bitter grapefruit rind. Smooth and full-bodied, with creamy, fine carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. There is definitely big hops in this beer, though they trend toward ripe, sweet, stonefruit, orange and tropical flavors, and not the fresh, resinous herb nuances. Should be let come up in temperature if pulled straight from the fridge. Overall, good, though I think I prefer more fresh, resinous herbs to stonefruit in my IPA's in general.

My first mission beer (I also have their IPA in the fridge). Pours a hazy amber/orange color with tan head. Aroma is citrus with some sweetness (caramel). Taste is similar with hop bitterness as well as some sweet caramel malt. The body is medium and I am surprised the abv is over 9%. Not a bad beer but compared to other DIPAs it is well below average.

22oz bomber This was purchased at Whole Foods in Western Henrico. The ale poured a cloudy light amber color. The head was white froth with large bubbles and lacing. The clerk at the Whole Foods recommended the IPA. It has a clean aroma with some sweet pine and citrus. A smooth beverage with very deceptive alcohol. Could use some bitterness in the finish. The body was light and the carbonation was soft. This brewery may be worth visiting.
