A style of beer curiously born on the foggy shores of Father Junipero Serra’s first founding mission. Our own vigorous entry is one rebellious IPA, quick on the trigger, and brimming with a bounty of hop ingenuity. This is a big, bold, brazen beer, a restless vision of a new America.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange color with an amber hue. Small foamy head that fades quickly. Faint, sugary aroma. Candy, caramel and a touch of citrus. Odd aroma for a DIPA. Tastes like sweet candy at first and quickly turns moderately bitter and stale. Very hard to describe this and I don’t like it at all. Tastes like it never finished fermenting or something. Awful aftertaste and a dry, bitter finish. Had to pour out. Bad bottle possibly?

UPDATED: APR 7, 2013 3 oz at Black Bottle Brewery. Orange and slightly hazy. Malty, hoppy boozy aroma. Medium body with nice balance. A little sweet for an IPA but very drinkable.

Pours hazy, orange amber with a short tan head. Aroma is caramel, pine, sugar. Taste is sweet caramel, fruit, over a mild orange peel bitter....malty. Mild, but tasty.

12oz bottle poured into glass. Nice clean pour, dark amber color with a nice soft lacing. Good hints of hops, citrus/grapefruit, what you come to find in a nice DIPA. ABV is masked very well. Super drinkable.

Snifter on tap at Neon’s. Mostly clear red / orange color. Thin white head, kind of bubbly, but mostly good retention and good lace. Medium-plus body, more dry texture. More pronounced carbonation. Dry texture, kind of soft. Bitter taste, with a light bite in the finish. Piney, sort of resiny grapefruit - citrus aroma. Some tropical fruit. Alright, but not really west coast DIPA level great. Overall, not the most appealing DIPA I’ve ever had. Finishing the snifter took longer than expected.

Pours dark gold in color with white head and very little lacing. Aroma of citrus and pine hops. Taste is very drinkable for a double IPA. Taste is also pine and citrus hops with enough sweetness to tame the bitter. Nicely done.

Being a well crafted beer it doesn’t leave an over bittering feel on the pallate. Can definitely drink several bottles of this beer.

White head, tiny bubbles, smooth across the palate with a nice sweet note at the beginning, ending with a wonderful piney, citrusy hop finish

Draft served in a tulip glass pours amber with average tan head. Aroma of flowers and citrus. Flavors of grapefruit, sweetened orange peel, and pine with nice hop finish. Good stuff.
