COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A style of beer curiously born on the foggy shores of Father Junipero Serra’s first founding mission. Our own vigorous entry is one rebellious IPA, quick on the trigger, and brimming with a bounty of hop ingenuity. This is a big, bold, brazen beer, a restless vision of a new America.

On tap. Pours a clear dark amber color with one finger of slightly off white head. Aroma of citrus, sweet malt, and some pine. Taste is very sweet malt with citrus almost being put in the background.

Draft to taster. Looks solid; a transparent dark orange with foamy off-white head that dissipates into sticky lacing. Smells of sweet malt and hops (in that order. Tastes like it smells with an averafe mouthfeel. Okay beer, but nothing special.

Hazy dark copper - low carbonation, oily texture - a lot or orange character throughout, but more like orange floor cleaner - a lot of butter in the nose and quite a bit in the flavor as well - abrasive throughout - very sweet - messy, and disappointing considering the quality of the ipa.

Beer has a honey amber color with a small head. Aroma of tropical and fruit and some honey. Taste has resin, hops and some caramel. Rather unique taste for a DIPA.

Great aroma citrus, pine and grass notes. Clear golden color. Alcohol a little overwhelming in the taste, but citrus and some malt notes pull through. Very thick on the palate for the style. Overall a good Imperial IPA.

Tap @ Black Bottle Fort Collins. Pours a fairly clear, dark reddish orange appearance with a cream colored head. Mild veggie, green herbal hoppy, tangy unpleasant aroma. Kind of goopy sweet malty, orange juice, garbage flavor. Not very good.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange color with an amber hue. Small foamy head that fades quickly. Faint, sugary aroma. Candy, caramel and a touch of citrus. Odd aroma for a DIPA. Tastes like sweet candy at first and quickly turns moderately bitter and stale. Very hard to describe this and I don’t like it at all. Tastes like it never finished fermenting or something. Awful aftertaste and a dry, bitter finish. Had to pour out. Bad bottle possibly?

UPDATED: APR 7, 2013 3 oz at Black Bottle Brewery. Orange and slightly hazy. Malty, hoppy boozy aroma. Medium body with nice balance. A little sweet for an IPA but very drinkable.
