A style of beer curiously born on the foggy shores of Father Junipero Serra’s first founding mission. Our own vigorous entry is one rebellious IPA, quick on the trigger, and brimming with a bounty of hop ingenuity. This is a big, bold, brazen beer, a restless vision of a new America.

Tap @ Valhalla w E. Pours a bright red-amber with fairly big off-white head that leaves random lacing. Aroma is strong earthy notes and hops. Palate is just the opposite with a malt-forward, bready, earthy base and light caramel, floral and fruity notes to compliment early on. Thickens and gets earthier as it goes along. Could not finish the tulip.

Bomber from total Wine Tucson. Nice pour with a fluffy head. Bold hopy start. Bold fruity with a big bottom. Nice long lasting pallet. Enjoy

22 oz bottle. Pours hazy orange, thin head, tons of lacing. Aroma is very fruity. Flavor is malty and sweet. In addition, it is floral and "perfumey". ABV well hidden, and a short bitter lingerness. I like my dipa’s more hoppy and not so sweet.

Bottle. Coppery amber with a medium, foamy tan head. Aroma is soft pine, big caramel, sweet malt, and soft citrus. Definitely not the hop bomb their IPA is, at least aroma-wise. Taste is big malt, caramel, soft pine, citrus notes, spicy hops and soft booze. Body is medium-full and rather chewy with a creamy, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more soft pine, caramel, chewy malt, spicy hop notes, light floral hops and soft alcohol. The regular IPA is a hop bomb. This isn’t and I can see why this may disappoint but I enjoyed it for what it was - a tasty beer!

Bottle [12oz]. Pours a slightly hazy orange-copper with an average size diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, tropical fruit, rye bread, citrus hops, alcohol and light spices -- sweeter and maltier then expected but good. Flavour of bready caramel malt, pine and citrus hops, fruit, some sugar, alcohol and a big bitter finish. Medium bodied. Sweeter then I like my DIPAs, and not quite hoppy enough, but still pretty good.

Bottle. Did I get a bad batch? Where’s the hops? Pours clear amber with a medium, mostly white head. Sweet caramel aroma with only a hint of pine/citrus hops. Taste is sweet caramel with slight pine and grapefruit hop flavors.

Poured into snifter glass a nice hazy light orange ,with weak head, that dissipates fast. Adequate lacing. A very malty and fruity nose, emphasis seems to be more malty than hoppy. Sweet toffee-like malts, some fruits and just enough faint hops swim into the nose. Very different aroma for a supposed Double/Imperial IPA. Fairly thick body of sweet toffee malts, fruits and different kind of hops than normally used for any American-style IPA. Average carbonation level. More on the malty and sweet side, not nearly hoppy enough for a regular American IPA, much less a Double/Imperial. It’s a good, pleasant taste indeed, but it’s very disappointing as a DIPA. As other reviewers on this site and others have stated, this is probably much close to a trippel or English IPA at best. Had the brewery classified and/or marketed it as one of those, it would get a lot more points from me and, no doubt, others.

Amber pour with clarity. Thin head. Light lacing. Real funky aroma. Funky mouth too. Artificial fruitiness, slightly medicinal, strangely bitter and acidic. Rich malts. Hops are not fresh and hard to describe, an english ipa would be my best description.
