A style of beer curiously born on the foggy shores of Father Junipero Serra’s first founding mission. Our own vigorous entry is one rebellious IPA, quick on the trigger, and brimming with a bounty of hop ingenuity. This is a big, bold, brazen beer, a restless vision of a new America.

Bottle from JohnCoctsin. Served in a tulip. Pours a clear light amber color with a single-finger white head that leaves some nice spotty lacing on the way down. The nose carries plenty of bready malt and some light caramel. Hops? Nope. The flavor is bread and some very light caramel and sweetness. Bread crust is the most apt description. Hops? Nope. Mouthfeel is medium with moderate carbonation. Bitterness? Nope. Three strikes. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 06-17-2011

Bomber from Baron’s. No head. Lovely colour. A strong IPA. Very dry. I will sip this the rest of the evening until I pass out.

My first brew from Mission! It’s always nice to discover a new brewery and try em out. I sampled a pint of this lovely 2IPA on draft over at Union Jack’s. The beer poured an amber color with a thick, rich and bubbly off-white head. The head left a nice amount of lacing around the glass, as well. The aroma was very inviting, with rich notes of caramel malt, bread, floral hops, cream and earth. The flavors were really intense, with a dry and spicy hop character, but balanced very nicely with lots of bready malts. I even got a little hint of cream and/or vanilla in the flavors. The finish was dry and spicy as well. Definitely a 2IPA worth looking out for!

Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s in Pittsburgh this beer poured a bright golden color with a huge creamy yellow-white head that lingered and left incredible lacing. The aroma was sweet grapefruit, lemon and a bit of pine. Nice nose but a bit faint. The flavor was sweet grapefruit, pineapple, pine and caramel. The finish was long with lingering pineapple and grapefruit. Full bodied. Excellent.

Excellent double IPA on tap at the Brillobox. Golden color, clear with modest head and full of aromatic hops as described.

22 oz bomber courtesy of Snojerk321. Poured into a tulip. Pours a clear amber with thin off-white head. Big resinous pine is the first thing that hits your nose. As it warms, you get sweet candied pineapple and caramel malt, but hops are the dominant aroma...big citrus and pine. Taste is moderately sweet and highly bitter. Just the way I like IPA’s and DIPA’s - very hop forward. Mouthfeel is crisp, not too thick or thin - medium bodied with medium carbonation. This is a really good Double IPA...big, hoppy, and bold. Yum.

(Draught) Pours a clear golden body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of orange, caramel, florals, and pine. Flavor of pine, caramel malt, grapefruit, and mango with a dry, bitter finish.

amber pour with quickly disappearing off-wihte head. nose is minimal light bodied. dominant tastes are toasted malt and earthy hops. viscous bitter finish possibly a bit soapy. not what i’m looking for in an DIPA overall meh.

On tap at Mad Mex Robinson. Blah. This is everything an IIPA should not be. The aroma was weak. Grainy with a hint of gasoline. Pour was a flat light brown with no head or bubbles. Taste was a nasty mix of sweet caramel, iced tea and just a hint of grassy and earthy hops. Not hoppy by any means and the malt is too sugary and has a burnt like quality. Hardly any carbonation. Drinkable but that’s it

Bottle at Butters’ Slutfest: Orange peel, rosehip, and tea. Clear amber, thin head. Overripe orange flavor. Simple, and rather average.
