3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Poured clear, light orangey-golden with a creamy off-white head. The aroma picked up more juicy orange and grapefruit than anything else.. warm and welcoming. The flavor found orange meat, honey, and bready notes at the core.. orange, black pepper, and floral bitterness surrounded.. finished warm and peppery. Medium-plus bodied and rather sharp/hot on the palate.. moderate carbonation.. OK feel and flow.. this wasn’t bad, but it went downhill after the initial impression.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle from The Beerhive in Pittsburgh. Better than most IPA’s but not quite up to the standard of a "double" lacking the hop saturation and coming up weak on body. Pleasant overall and fully appreciative of the 9.25% ABV.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught Small off-white head over foxy orange-golden beer, medium carbonation. Orange(peel)y nose, some garden herbs, suggestion of vegetable bitterness, faintly fruity. Very outspoken bitter first impression, with a bitterness that wavers between plastic-y and quinine, and a flavourprofile as from orangeessence. Slight sulphur. Agressive hopoils determining MF and aftertaste, medium bodied, quite slick, feels more heavily carbonated than it looks. Typical example of a I-want-a-big-one-too IIPA, which is not what I get from the other Mission Brewery beers. The plasticy component OTOH common in their brews, ought to be eliminated.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft at Hamilton’s in San Diego.
Pours a hazy dark golden orange color with a half finger white head that immediately disappears. Not much in the way of lacing.
Slightly earthy aroma with very muted hop character. Subtle grass, pine and floral hops with a touch of citrus and lots of alcohol.
Medium bodied with a strong bitter hop presence up front that’s quickly countered by tropical fruit and alcohol. Again, the hops are muted by light fruit and sweet booze. Hints of apricot, pineapple, grapefruit and orange peel but it’s kind of weak.

(22oz bomber) clearish orange, offwhite head that lasts. Nose of herbs, fresh hops, orange peel. Taste of bitter citrus peel, syrupy, medium to thick body.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at Long Beach Yard House. A bit of sweetness but barely any aroma on this one. Some mild floral notes. Medium heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Deep golden amber clear with thin white lacing head. Starts sweet with pale malt, sugar, and alcohol. Fruity hop finish but not harsh. Smooth sweet after, sugary with a hint of bitter.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Serious nose here...but it is actually malty, and I mean really malty. Hops are really piney but not citrusy. Color is deep amber with a fading head. This is a really good beer with a alcohol finish. You know you have something heavy here

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Really good version of an IPA, but rustic amd lacking clarity, some piny resinous hops with a malty backdrop, great orange copper color, the aftertaste is a bit of a dissapointment, but definitely a drinkable beer.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz Bottle. Purchased at Wakefield Liquors - Wakefield, RI. Clean, but restrained nose of even high hops. Okay, I’m a sucker for Double IPAs. But sometimes, brewers screw up and make them too sweet and too boozy and they’re not worthy spending $3.50 on a twelve ounce bottle. This is one of those. Next, please.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from a draft into a pint glass at San Diego Brewing Company on March 16, 2012. Color was hazy caramel. About one finger of head. Light film on lacing on the top. Even amount of cobweb film on the sides.
Got a deep whiff of citrus hops, probably lemon. Fairly balanced but nothing too special overall.
Not too much citrus in the taste, but very bitter. Can really taste the alcohol. Kind of smooth. Lots of different things going on in the taste.
Medium body. Slight texture. Average carbonation,. Bitter, but smooth finish.
Just an OK double IPA. It had its moments but I wouldn’t go out of my way to have another one.
