A style of beer curiously born on the foggy shores of Father Junipero Serra’s first founding mission. Our own vigorous entry is one rebellious IPA, quick on the trigger, and brimming with a bounty of hop ingenuity. This is a big, bold, brazen beer, a restless vision of a new America.

Poured medium amber with a frothy off white head. Aroma of bitter floral hops and fruit. Medium to full body, flavour is overly bitter, presumably a bit old. Not very nice, to be rerated at some point.

32 ounce can for 9 bucks from ABV. Damn big can. Stands out. Pours a bright reddish copper color with a large white head. A big green hop and resin nose. The flavor is light perfume, green bitter hops, caramel. Lots of bitterness and alcohol burn. Hmm. This isn’t really my thing, it is way too hot and unbalanced. I mean malt liquor type heat. 32 ounces is way too much.

Although resinous aroma, not too excessive, however, nice bitting bitterness, medium bodied goodness.

Bottle from Ales by Mail. Amber pour with a white head. Tangerine and seet spice aroma. Spicy, peppery flavour with lots of citrus fruit in there. Nice.

355ml bottle. Hazy, orangey golden to amber colour with small to average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Herbal, resinous, piney hoppy aroma, hints of orange zest, a floral honey touch, candied lemon slices, some burned rubber; anticipatory flavours of biting hoppy bitterness wait for their entry like a sports car running idle while the driver is playfully hitting the gas pedal impatiently awaiting green lights. Taste is perfumed bitter hoppy, piney, resinous, some liquorice and burned rubber. Intense and heavy.

Orange red body with a small head of white bubbles. Sweet almost candy sugar aroma along with grapefruit rind. A slightly sweet taste that gives way to bitter hops, grapefruit rind, and pine needles. Thinner than syrup, but thicker in the mouthfeel than water.

Bottle, this is a very easy drinking DIPA, not to aggressive and certainly din’t really taste very alcoholic considering the ABV, definitely drink again, if a little bit anonymous to really stand out from the crowd

23/XII/14 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. bottle from Healthy Spirits (CA, USA) @ home - BB: n/a, bottled: n/a (2014-1529) Thanks to Dieter A. for sharing the bottle!

Cloudy dark orange beer, big creamy yellowish irregular head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: some citrus, piny, dusty, spicy notes, bit of honey. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: some citrus, bitter, grassy, some almonds and marzipan. Aftertaste: very bitter, resinous, dry, some honey, sugary touch, caramel, bit soapy, malty. Probably much better fresh, but no date to be found on label or bottle. Thus allowing shop keepers to have shelf turds like this one. Smart move, Mission!
