COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A style of beer curiously born on the foggy shores of Father Junipero Serra’s first founding mission. Our own vigorous entry is one rebellious IPA, quick on the trigger, and brimming with a bounty of hop ingenuity. This is a big, bold, brazen beer, a restless vision of a new America.

Tried it in a bottle. Has a nice, piney and hoppy smell. Nice hoppy flavor as well. I mistakenly opened it and got busy. I don't suggest doing this. But good hoppy flavor. Revere Stryker dog!

Bottle. Golden, small to average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty - grainy and sweetish aroma, some caramel and tropical fruitiness, some grapefruit - piney hoppyness, light alcohol. Body is medium, malty - lightly grainy and lightly sweetish flavor, light - some caramel and light - some tropical fruitiness, some grapefruit - light piney hoppyness, faint alcohol. Finish is average, malty - grainy and lightly sweetish, light caramel and fruitiness with some piney/grapefruit hoppyness, light - some alcohol. Grainy IIPA - not overly too sweet. Could use more bitterness to balance alcohol.

Can - (Bishops Arms, Västerås) - Amber in colour. Pine, toffee and apricot in the aroma. Pine, sticky toffee, grapefruit, peach and apricot can be detected in the hoppy and slightly warming taste.

UPDATED: AUG 22, 2015 Prominent pine citrus aroma in an amber copper pour. Taste is very smooth with a mild hop forward balance and full malt body. Sustained clean bitter finish prepares one well for another mouthfull.

West Coast IIPA with thick and dense, regularly shaped, nicely lacing, pale beige white head and clear, pure orangey amber colour with very little fizz. Dank but gently hoppy and malty aroma of pink grapefruit, tangerine, cookies and even sweet butterscotch, orange peel, weed, cedar needles, almond, toasted bread, tamarillo, bourbon, blue cheese, walnut. ’Clean’ onset, some dried fruits, subtle hints of redcurrant and mango, soft carbo, smooth, slick and bit resiny mouthfeel, biscuity and lightly toasted sweetish maltiness, straightforwardly evolving into a long, dry, piney, spicy hop finish, deeply bittering as expected but not harshly so, and perhaps lacking some more ’ethereal’ flower or citrus qualities; malt sweetness and hop bitterness bond in the end, in balance, though I expected more hop character from a beer labeled as double IPA. A dash of warming, whisky-like alcohol rounds things off, unsurprisingly for a beer of this strength. I guess this bottle is just a bit too old for this particular style, surely this has more exotic hop fragrance when young. I can, of course, only rate it in this form, i.e. a decent, solid double IPA without any specifications distinguishing it from the many others I had. But I was in need of an IPA anyway so this works fine.

Color ámbar limpio y espuma marfil compacta. Aromas de naranja, mango, miel y herbáceos. Cuerpo denso y meloso, inicio dulce de mermelada de fruta naranja y sabor herbáceo hasta el final de amargor seco.

12 oz bottle.
Clear amber, short lived two finger head, very little lace.
Sweet caramel malt aroma, followed by ruby red grapefruit, and some earthiness.
Flavor is sweet, sticky, caramel, grapefruit, pine, and a big blast of alcohol. Decent flavors going on, but the alcohol burn is distracting.

Bottle at home. Exported to the netherlands. Poured a dark orange to amber colour with a slightly off head. Nose of peaches, sweet caramel, malts, biscuits, grapefruit, and pine hops. A spicy alcoholic aftertaste wich is quite bad, and unbalanced because of it.

Malty, caramelly, butterscotch, grapefruity, resinous hops, amber colour, beige head, lacing. Heavy sweetness big bite, lightly salty, unrefined, and crude, yet very Rewarding. Fullbodied, soft carbonation, sweet and bitter finish. Enjoyable.
