COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Kölsch style ale is nutty, spicy and very refreshing. Crystal and Munich malts are combined with European hops for a beer perfect for thirst quenching and pairing with spicy pastas or brick oven pizza.

Though the Blonde Draft is reportedly Mission Springs top seller beer, it is most definitely its weakest offering. Uneventful in every way, it lacks any unique characteristics so much to the point that it nearly mimics the bland lager/pilsener offerings of most of the mega-brewers. Sold year round in traditional 650ml bottles, its tagged as "a lighter style ale, mildly hopped and very refreshing" and is based on pale and what malts and hallertau hops. Depsite a modest white rocky head on the pour, it quickly disappates to little more than a thin white collar on the edge of the glass. Very little lacing on the glass, and what it there reminscent of cirrus formed clouds. A very very pale toned ale, similar to that of a heartless Belgian wit, but lacks the cloudiness and bountiful character that typical follows the Belgian styled offerings. On the aroma side of things, this one is exceptionally mellow with virtually no personal character at all. Lifeless and boring, you can pick up just hints of the wheat malt and a slight hoppy tinge. Taste wise. Ugh. Disappointing is the easiest thing to call it. This ale has no life in it at all, consider it a Coors Light minus the skunk hit. The minimal amount of carbination combined with its hit of malt give this beer a flat feeling in the mouth. Thankfully my beer is still relatively cold while drinking it otherwise I'd probably be set to pour down the drain. I'll chalk up its popularity on the fact that its being sold to first time craft beer drinkers who are sold on the fact that if they can handle a Coors, Labatt, Molson or whatever favorite they may already have - then this is a great starter down the road to craft beer fanatiscm. However, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, craft beer lover or not.

Yup, bomber. Clear golden blonde, fading foamy white head. Mild fruity malty aroma. Not the blandest blonde, sweet grainy lager malt taste, she is a ’lil nutty and scattered, becoming a citrusy sour girl as she warms. Average carbonation, light body, low hopped. Couldn’t finish it fast enough, resulting in a drainpour. Extra points for the cool label. LF (Lagerboy Friendly)

On tap at the brewpub. Clear, hay-coloured. Aroma of butterscotch, toffee, grassy hops. Light bodied, refreshing, taste of grass, hay, bread. A thirstquencher, but nothing to remember.

Blond color. Crispy, corny, dry Lager, with shades of good hops. Refreshing.

Pours straw-blonde with little haze and no head. Aroma is fresh baked bread, light subacid fruits, grassy hops. Taste is fresh, light sweet malt, hints of yeast and fruit, mild bitter hop and malt in the finish. Body is smooth and, light and refreshing. This blonde ale certainly isn’t a revelation but hardly wet cardboard and cigar butt, I must have had a good batch.

Bottle, 65cl - Hazy blond beer with a large white head. Aroma is malty with fresh notes of hops and citrus. Flavor is slightly malty with hints of citrus and with grassy notes. Fresh and pretty good, underrated.

(650ml bottle) thanks to Joss. Pours a dissipating head with a clear golden body. Nose of cantaloupe. Flavour is wet cardboard and cereal and sour milk. Poor.

Bottle. Bread, dust aroma. Pale golden, no head. Berry, citrus notes. Light body dry mouthfeel. Frankly pretty boring.

Alright, this is my second bad Mission Springs experience. I think that the key here is to try their beers on tap whenever possible because this is the second bad bomber (the first being the cream ale). However, in this case I think the beer wasn’t off, it is just a bad beer. Pours a clear bright gold, moderate white head without lace. Really off-putting plastic bandaid aroma, REALLY BAD!! The palate is wimpy grainy blandness, but every time I lift the glass to sip I get the full on bandaid thing and it grosses me out. Drain pour.

Very similar to their cream ale, albeit a lighter straw colour. Same fruity yeastiness with a touch of citrusy hops. Not bad, just a little boring.
