3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JoeMcPhee (7671) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 5, 2005
Brewed on Dec 1, 2004. From a 650 ml bottle bought at the brewpub. Black with a thin lasting tan head. Large bubbles. Aroma was very fruity, which I don’t remember from the tiny sample I had on tap at the brewpub. Aromas of blackberry, cherry, and cassis. Dark chewy malts, molasses, with a very fruity flavour, similar to the aroma. The outmeal is here adding body, but not a whole lot of flavour. There is some chocolate in here as well. Finish is slightly sweet, a bit of toast and very faint roast. Really more porter-like from the bottle, whereas in the pub, even though I didn’t take notes, I remember it being a very different beast. Interesting and tasty.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BeerPrince (1701) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 5, 2005
Very dark brown with almost no head. Nose is coffee and some cocoa but not overly strong. Taste was slightly bitter with a nice mouthfeel, quite creamy and smooth. Finish was lightly bitter. Again, I had this in a bottle and it was funny tasting, same thing I think Stephen Louis is commenting on.

have had this one in the fridge for some time and decided it was time to give it a go.
Pours almost headless, very dark cherry brown.A nice nose, coffee cherry and chocolate but lacking malt.
Very mild tasting, slightly bitter roasted taste,a very strange " used diaper like" background taste/smell that really detracts from the beer..a bad bottle???.finishes with just a touch of hop drying really leans towards neutral or sweet for a stout.
OK mouth feel and not too drinkable to me.

this is great beer.
too bad it's hard to locate outside of Western Canada or Canada anyway .
I buy it right at the brewery where i'm assured it's fresh.
Man, it's yummy !
So soft and silky and drinkable!
Not too bitter . A pleasing bit of sweetness.
One of my favorite micro brews of all time for sure and i've tried lots world wide .
