Flavor adds alcohol, chocolate and citrus hops. Reminds me of a Belgian dubbel. dry finish with medium body and sticky texture. well balanced taste-wise. A good desert beer that would go well with fruit cake, any moist cake and black cherry pies.

Not a bad beer. Pours a thicker muddy black with a tan head. Not much of any smell, maybe a slight chocolate covered strawberries. Taste is sweet, refreshing, with a slightly boozy finish. An easy beer to drink. Had in the bottle.

Pours deep mahogany into a tulip. Off-white head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Dark pit fruit and caramel aromas. Sweet toffee and caramel upfront turning to mild treacly pit fruit in the lasting finish.

2013 Bottle. Poured brown with a tan head that settled to a ring. Aromas of dark fruits and a hint of alcohol and smoke. The flavor found dark fruits and a chocolate background. Medium body and sweet.

Rich reddish brown with a thin skim of white head. Aroma is malty and earthy with a slight hop buzz, and it reminds me of an earthy imperial pumpkin without the extra spices. Taste is the same, and on the sweet side without being cloying. $3/22 oz

Mahogany with off white head. Musty aroma. Taste is sweet malt and a hoppy bite at finish.

2013 Anniversary
Aroma is very fruit forward with ester notes of banana, cherry, raisin and plum and fig when it is first poured into a glass. There is also some light caramel, light treacle and toffee, an burnt sugar in the aroma. Low malt aromas with very faint roast, some burnt toast and a hint of nuts.
Pours brown with some ruby highlights. Medium thick tab head that steadily recedes to the edges. Not much lacing and medium size legs.
Flavor is not as ester forward as the aroma. There is a lot more malt character but it is also a bit to moderately astringent. Lots of caramel of varying darkness, light roast and toffee notes, medium treacle, light molasses. No hop flavor but moderate hop bitterness. Some raisin and cherry esters. Faint alcohol note in the finish.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Medium astringency and medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall, an alright beer especially if you factor in the cost. But it's also nothing to write home about and the flavor has an off, astringent note that isn't pleasant at all.

A nice mahogany color with a thin light brown head. Nice roasted malt flavor with hints of fruit. A light hot quality that is not overwhelming.

22 ounce bottle. 2013 vintage from Trader Joe’s in Princeton, NJ. Dark red mahogany color topped by a medium-sized bubbly beige head. Rich roasted malt aroma with hints of dried fruit and apricots. Sweet roasted malt flavor has notes of plums, licorice, cocoa and sultana raisins. There is a chewy mouthfeel and an underlying sweet roasted maltiness that makes this ale nicely complex and flavorful. There is a subtle spicy hop finish that completes this wonderful Brown Ale. Delicious.

Pours a clear light brown with minimal head. Aromas of grape drank, dirt, muddy baby shit. Taste is sweet and syrupy. Minimal if any hop presence. This is basically a shitty quad. Good thing I paid $3 for the bomber.

22oz bottle, 2013 vintage, purchased from my local Trader Joes. I think it cost me $5. Shared with Anthony and Sean during a grillout at their place. Totally hazy dark red / brown color. Thin off-white / khaki head. Nice kind of loose splotches of lace. Dark fruit, nice tropical hops. Light chocolate. Some grape. Satisfying amount of hop... It doesn’t have much flavor on it’s own, but it carries the malt well. Medium to bigger body. Sweet taste, mostly, but good hoppy bitter, too. Nice, hoppy strong ale. Tastes pretty Firestone Walker. And all that considered, it’s a great value for the price.
