2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
7/03/2010: Mission St. Brown Ale... Aroma: Dark bread with a suggestion of coffee. Appearance: Dark amber to brown in color; clean appearance; thin beige foam on the surface. Flavor: Weak nuttiness; toasted bread crust; date-like sweetness; cocoa-dryness; out of place fruity quality; nothing really stands out. Palate: Medium-light; watery. Overall: WEAK; disappointing and quite boring.
Sample at Trader Joe’s in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rating #146 for this beer.

Bottle @ Greg’s house picked up in the Midwest. Pours a reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. Caramel, nutty toffee dessert bar, light apple aroma. Somewhat thin and a bit watery. Decent drinking, somewhat toasty malty, bland caramel flavor. Not bad but bland.

Bottle. Thanks SJ. Some nice nice notes of roasted, burnt malts and nuts. The finish was roast and caramel. It was ok. The blend could have been better.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 2, 2013 Good brown ale that is priced at a bargain. Taste and aroma is a little light and mouthfeel is a little thin but overall better then the Anniversary ale and worth buying again for the price.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
650 ml. Clear, deep chestnut with a lasting covering of cream. Nose of toffee, citrus zest, resin, light coffee and oak. Taste is a great blend of the same plus some toasted walnut. Light-medium body is soft, has medium carbonation and is well balanced by a roasty, lightly hopped finish. Excellent brown.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle:   Deep ruby with brownish highlights, moderate to large frothy sandy head, fairly nice lacing.
Subtle toasted malts, a little honey comb cereal aromas.   Similar on the tongue, yet stronger malts, more honey comb
like cereal, and soft salty caramel.   Moderate to full bodied, seems to coat well yet not be too sticky.   The
honeycomb cereal lingers, but luckily its not overbearing.   Pretty solid Brown Ale.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours reddish-brown with a nice frothy white head.
Aroma is malty, slightly nutty.
Flavor is a balance of malty sweetness and gentle hoppy bitterness.
A little thin on palate.
This is a good beer in any case, but for $2 at Trader Joe’s, this is a remarkably good beer.
