22 ounce bottle. Reddish brown color. Large Rocky tan head. Pleasant toasted malt nose has notes of cocoa and toasted nuts. Upfront, flavor is rich buttery malt with a subtle cocoa and toffee background. The middle is complex and spicy with notes of dark fruits and peppery hops. Finish is chewy malt with more cocoa. Overall, a tasty Brown Ale at a great value at $2.99 for a 22 ounce bottle.

Type: 22-oz. bottle Glass: 24-oz. plastic tumbler From: Trader Joe’s in Mission Valley (San Diego), Calif. Price: $1.99 Purchased: April 3, 2015 Consumed: April 3, 2015 Misc.: Bottled on Feb. 9, 2015 at 8:42 a.m. Poured a very dark brown murky color with almost four fingers of khaki tan, frothy head. Lots of layered foamy lacing on the sides. Good, thick retention. (Sight - 3.50) Smelled nutty foam, caramel, light toffee and some candied brown sugar. I think the plastic tumbler is hurting the nose here. (Smell - 3.38) Tasted a bit better than the nose and slightly more bitter. Got bitter nutty malts, faint roasty malts, caramel, light sugary toffee and plain old barley. (Taste - 3.50) Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Slightly bitter, abrupt finish. Probably had this a bit too cold. (Feel - 3.50) This was just an OK brown ale, although I must say I didn’t have it under the ideal circumstances and/or drinking glass. But for $1.99, I will certainly try it again. (Overall - 3.50) 3.48 79 B-

"one of the better budget minded mission st line-up. aroma and flavor are a little heartier, a little more to em. roasted malt and good hop balance. still nothing special, but may revisit at .99."

Bomber from Trader Joe’s pours a clear caramel brown color with small tan head and scant lacing. Aroma is roasted malts with noticeable nuttiness. Taste is on the sweet side with lemony bitterness coming in the middle and through the finish. Body is medium with average carbonation and a slightly sticky mouthfeel. I don’t often seek out brown ales, but this one exceeded my expectations, especially for the price.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance is a dark brown colored body with a tan fluffy head that settles in fairly quickly, leaves a good amount of lacing. The smell had a malty bringing in a very light coffee, and a dark barley. The taste had a roasty kind of coffee with a bit of earthy nuttiness. The palate had a medium, fairly sessionable, nutty aftertaste and sticky finish. Overall, this is good for the style and good for me.

Bomber from Trader Joes. Pours a clear brown color with a large off-white head. A sweet yeasty and nutty nose. The flavor is quite nice; toasted malts, nuts, chocolate, a fruity hop bite in the finish. Very clean. Quite good.
