Mission street pours rich brown with a small head of white bubbles. Nose is lightly nutty an metallic. Body is thinner than expected and rather plain. Taste is mild roasted malt and some herbal/vegetable that seems off. Finishes rather blah. Based on other ratings here i wonder if i got an old/bad bottle.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance is a dark brown colored body with a tan fluffy head that settles in fairly quickly, leaves a good amount of lacing. The smell had a malty bringing in a very light coffee, and a dark barley. The taste had a roasty kind of coffee with a bit of earthy nuttiness. The palate had a medium, fairly sessionable, nutty aftertaste and sticky finish. Overall, this is good for the style and good for me.

Bomber from Trader Joes. Pours a clear brown color with a large off-white head. A sweet yeasty and nutty nose. The flavor is quite nice; toasted malts, nuts, chocolate, a fruity hop bite in the finish. Very clean. Quite good.

Nice roasted malt aroma with a bit of cocoa as well. Taste is full flavored and balanced. Cocoa and roasted malt comes through. Solid brown ale.

22oz bomber from Tempe Trader Joe’s pours with a crystal clear amber to ruby red body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up some roasted malts, a bit of nuttiness and little else that I can tell. The Taste has some bright notes of roasted malts, sweetness and nuttiness but this somehow lacks depth and cohesion. To midway and into the finish a mild lemon to lime hoppy tartness comes to the surface. Decent offering.

Bottle. Clear medium brown with a fizzy head. Caramel, bread, and malt aroma and taste with a sweet bread finish.

Bottle. Dark amber/brown pour with a froth of tan foam. Lightly sweet malt, dry nuts and thin roast, and some minimal hop bitterness on the aroma. Taste is dominated by a mild sweetness before giving way to a thin, dry nutty character and finishing with slight bitterness that mixes with the sweetness. Light, even mouthfeel. Perfectly decent brown albeit definitely on the sweet side of the spectrum . . . and at $2 a bomber a great deal.

PorterPounder (5199) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - NOV 2, 2013
Tallahassee, Fl - Trader Joe’s - 22 oz bomber. Very dark brown pour, thick stick eggshell white colored head, thin coat of lacing. Aroma has some light chocolate accents, a hint of potting soil. Flavor is delightful with some nice chocolate undertones, a hint of potting soil, some hints of licorice and a touch of coffee in the back end. Mouthfeel, while not thin and watery is a bit too thin for the flavor - still a solid brown ale though. Well worth the $2.99 I paid for it!

Aurelius (3908) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - OCT 16, 2013
22 oz bomber from Trader Joe’s Tallahassee. Good label. Clear, ruddy brown beer with a huge tan head. Fine-grained, chainmail bubbles coat the sides of the glass as you tip it. Cool effect. Sweet, nutty aroma. Foam smells powdery and the hops come forward. Fairly hoppy for a brown, drier than it smells, lightly sweet, very slightly astringent, and a little milky perhaps. Roasty finish musters up what sweetness the beer has. Medium body, maybe even a bit on the lightish side. This was a pretty good value @ $2.99 for a bomber. Right up there with the Two Buck Chuck.
