I used to drink this alot years ago, but generally not all that excited about it now that I’ve had so many more interesting beers. Still, pretty drinkable and I wouldn’t turn one down. I wouldn’t dare call this a porter though. What’s up with that?

Very drinkable though Ibrew2or3 (1705), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Aug 22, 2008 1 qt jug pours brilliant clear amber (not a Porter like look to me) and one inch tan head. The aroma I get caramel, crystal malts and nuttiness to go along with a mild note of astringency. As it warmed just a bit I start to get some butteriness out of the nose. Hmm. The taste is thin but has some modest flavor. I get mild nuttiness moving toward a roasty note and then evening out a bit with just a dab of caramel. It seems to end with a pleasant burnt maltiness that wraps things up nice and neat. Addin the lighter beer definitely helps the porter go down smoother. Give me a Beamish any day over this. LordBeamish (135), Boozetown, Ontario, Canada Aug 4, 2008 My wife picked up a large jug of this while on a business trip to St. Louis....while black and tans are not my usual choice, I found that I really enjoyed this one.......the beer poured a dark brown, similar to a newcastle brown ale.....this beer tasted surpisingly light and satisfying....the sweet chocolate/caramel notes accompanied the roasted malts beautifully....not one I could drink a lot of, but a nice beer to have for a change.
