Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

Pours a light brown color with a tan head. Aroma is malty, roasted malts, and some bitter hops. Flavor is malty, slight cardboard, roasted malts and a light bitter finish.

Faux ceramic jug. Poured dark red with a little brown head. Sweet malty aroma, hints of caramel and chocolate. Smooth flavor, malty, sweet, notes of caramel and cocoa. Nothing amazing, but worth a try.

I liked the quart ceramic jug. It poured a deep red with a small tan head. Nose of mild malts and chocolate. Mouthfeel was faiirly smooth. Flavor was just what you would expect from a Black and Tan with caramel, coffee, chocolate, and floral hops. Finish very mild. Drinkable, but this is all.

An ok dark beer. Pours dark with sizable head. Smells of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Tastes fine even flat and at room temperature, not bad for sipping over a period of time.

I really liked this beer. Went down much smoother than I expected. Too bad I can’t find this anywhere anymore, I would definitely have this more often........oh, I love the jug!

Jug. The classification here really stretches the lines that encompass "porter"... clear, deeper reddish-amber pour with a medium cap of creamy beige head. The aroma was a mixture of dried detergent and cocoa... a little earth in there too... very light and airy with no real substance. Flavor wasn’t really any better... sweet, watery caramel sugars and cocoa powder at the base with some mildly bitter earth and coffee notes... sweet and drinkable, but really no good. Light-bodied and it left a dry, grainy, filmy feel in the mouth. This really wasn’t good.

(Bottle 94,6 cl) Clear, warm, dark, amber golden with a dense, creamy, off-white laces. Lightly acidic, caramelish aroma. Thin and sloppy body with notes of sour/sweet caramel malt and some cardboard. Basically no bitterness. Not much of a Porter - not much of a beer really. Best thing about this is the fake "ceramic" quart bottle and then it’s cheap price of $3. 260307

Very smooth for a black and tan. A little to smooth. I expected a little more of a bite. It does have pretty good flavor to it. Hints of caramel, coffee, hops and chocolate. Nothing overpowering. Solid brew.
