Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

I loved this one. I was expecting crap, I really just bought it for the bottle. It wasn’t wattered down with a cheap pilsner, and I felt like I got all of the porter notes. It was thicker than expected too. Aroma had a mostly porter character to it, and even a slightly creamy note. Unfortunately, I got this at the beach.... if it were around at home, I would get it all the time! Especially since it was $1.32 for a pint! Go try it!

Decent but not a memorable brew. Except the bottle, that is cool as heck. A+ on the packaging. Of course, those new metal Bud Lite cans are cool too, so what does that say?

A pretty average beer. Tastes a little watered down. Pours a deep redish brown with a minimal head. Slight malty taste. The bottle is pretty cool though.

I was given this beer at an x-mas party. Needless the say, while I drank it I was not that impressed but had to put up a good face and drink it so as not to embarass the giver. There is a dark colour, I tasted some roastiness. Sourish finish. The packaging is unique and attracted curiousity. Despite that, with the name mud, noone wanted to share it out.

Bottled. Clear, amber, good sized head with lots of sticky lace. Doesn’t look anything like a porter. Aroma was skunky, musky like leather and funk, touch malty. Mouth was light, touch of foamy carb, more wet finish than dry. Flavor was blah. Some corn, personalityless hops, nice apple flavor, touch of caramel, sugar, unfortunate--if very light--alcohol flavor. Has some definite weak points in aroma and flavor, but it’s drinkable and goes down easy. Bottle looks cool. 32oz of cheap beer.

This is a pretty good beer. The taste is a bit bland as said below. The bottle is one of the coolest I have seen by far. This beer is also great for drinkin on the river!
