If this is a porter, it is very light colored for the style. The aroma is like light coffee and a little bit of cola. The taste is iced tea with a little bit of grass. A decent session brew that is nothing very exciting. Great bottle, though. walleye (882), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA

Toasty, malty aroma. Earthy, bready flavor, with a slightly sour hop bite. While the aforementioned bottle is cool, it can be a bit of chore to drink 36oz of it, because it gets a bit boring after a while. clutchrogers (90), Broussard, Louisiana, USA

Finishes with a slight roasted flavor, but doesn’t really taste like quality craftsmanship. Frank (1076), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 5, 2004 I tried this a couple of times in college and never bothered to come back to it for a rating because, frankly, it’s not very good. The bottles pretty cool and it is actually a very nice looking beer--medium garnet with a nice, creamy head. Like all of these bottle black and tans it’s more like a dark lager than it is an actual black and tan. In this case, it has a definite sweet, malty edge with a bit of molasses and some dark, fruity notes along with some chocolate. The mouthfeel is pleasantly thick but the carbonation is dead and entirely boring. Mine was well within the expiration date but it had a slight sour off note. It gets a bit taxing after a while. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

Pretty ’muddy’...Nothing Real Amazing or Distinctive about it. bierchik (95), lakewood, California, USA
