Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

Pours a dark amber color with minimal head formation. Smells of lightly roasted malts. A rather thin body that seems rather watery. Very ’drinkable’.

Pretty rose appearance, very little head. Smells like a nice brown ale with sweet notes. Light mouthfeel. Sweet notes of a porter mixed with the lighter body of a pilsner. Sweet aftertaste that doesn’t linger. Better than expected, and what a COOL bottle!

Dark red pour with a white head. Faint aroma of caramel with an equally light flavor. Feels really watered down. Caramel and some roasted malts. No bitterness or lingering flavor. Light body which makes it extremely drinkable.

A pretty rust color with a thick tan head. Lightly roasted malt aroma is pleasant and inviting. Light malt flavor accompanied by a noticeable tinny, metallic taste followed by a decently clean and warm finish. A little flat. Very drinkable. Lacing is just okay.

Jug bottle. Bought this one primarily for the collection. Don’t remember much other than it was drinkable. Nothing special.

$3.49/L Average creamy off white head with excellent lacing. Dark amber body hue. Aroma is of sweet bread and molasses malt. Hints of honey, brown sugar and licorice also. Flavor is sweet and creamy and slightly bitter at end with disappointing metallic finish. Short aftertaste. Decent cheap beer and underrated!

32oz jug. It pours a nice dark amber mahogany with a thick, pale beige, fairly persistent head. Aroma is malty and has just a hint of fruit. Flavor is malty and has touches of smoke and molasses, pleasant but not thick or mouth filling. Texture is smooth and just a little watery. Not too shabby.
