Commercial Description:
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

Pours a glear dark garnet with a 2 finger fizzy light tan head that fades fairly quickly to a skim and ring. Aroma is roast, cereal grain, grassy hops. Flavor is similarly roasty, straw, light grass, some bitter hops, a little earthy chocolate. FInish is nutty, with herbal and slightly bitter hops. Body is pretty thin and over carbonated, with a slightly acidic feel.

Sample from January 24, 2009 Beer Club meeting. Quite a frothy head.... Clear, dark amber color. Sweet, bitter, almost spicy aroma. Very smooth. Flavor is odd, but good.

An interesting beer packaging. Picked up single quart jug from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in Shorewood, MN. Pours a clear brownish amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that dissipates nearly clean. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, some dried nuts, and some citrus hops. Taste is pretty much the same as aroma with more roasted malt flavors. Finish is slightly watery, with a mild roasted dark malt and nuts aftertaste. At least the packaging is better.

Dark brown in color with not too much head. The aromas are malts maybe a little nutty. The flavors are the same as the smell but do not seem to balance very well.

Crushed while Jakebra was passed out. Sweet malts on the nose. Very thin bodied. Nothing much in the flavor, but noting offensive which keeps this at atleast a 2, and it’s gotta be better than Michelob Porter. And it’s got a alligator on the label!

I have a black and tan...and this isn’t Guiness and Harp! But it’s decent especially for the price. And not sure they are too many cooler bottles. I wanted to swig it Jed Clampett style.

Pours dark brown with small tan head. Great packaging I love the jug. Flavor is slightly roasted malty sweetness with smooth but thin and watery finish. I will buy more.

Cool looking jug bottle. Pours brown with a tan head. Smells vegetal with some sweet malty undertones. Tastes sweet and caramelly with an earthy finish. Watery mouthfeel.
