COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

A very drinkable beer. If you don’t start out with the assumption that it’s actually stout or porter. The flavor is as the name suggests -- thinner than stout, more roasted tasting that lager. Fairly well balanced between hops and malt, with a little cola flavor. A good minit market choice.

ravidesai (947) - Bombay, INDIA - JAN 10, 2002
nice bottle- the beer itself is less imaginative. supposedly a black and tan but comews off as a watery porter. has an odd skunk taste despite the dark bottle. stick to guiness or even yuengling for a black &tan.

   AROMA 4/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 4/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 11/20
BillKismet (3334) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 29, 2001
Cool that it comes in a jug. Not half bad overall. Not nearly as thick as the name suggests, but has some complexity, slight bitterness, and is drinkable.

   AROMA 4/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 8/20

Bland, aromaless, watery pseudo-stout.

Pablo McStouthead (69) - L.A, California, USA - DEC 23, 2001
Wet and bitter. No appealing flavor. Made by the Arizona Iced tea people, so it figures.

   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 12/20
Kodos (200) - USA - DEC 20, 2001
Nice packaging. Shouldn’t be allowed to say Black and Tan on the label. Not even close to good. 3 for appearance only because of the bottle.

Admiral (524) - Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 8, 2001
It’s a beer for sitting on a porch with a good friend who you can’t convince to try Belgians, shooting the bull and listening to King Crimson. Surprisingly flavorful for something readily available at convenience stores.

Novelty BS. The only thing good about it is the packaging. Somewhat offensive.

A little watery, pretty much an ordinary stout

Would you buy it if it was not for the packaging? No, it is a very ordinary black and tan
