I had this one a long time ago. I love the bottle and label. The beer was a bit disappointing.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a dark brown with a moderate light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel and some grassy hops. Flavor is roasted malts, caramel, grass, coffee and light chocolate. Overall the flavor is light and the body is really thin.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Aromas of mellow roast, light caramel, and subtle hops. Clear, dark ruby with a fading off-white head. Off-dry, metallic, malt-forward with mainly caramel flavors. Light-medium bodied, decently clean.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Roasty coffee and some dark berry notes. Light beige thin head and rusty body. Light berry flavors and a alc burnt rubber taste. Smooth but weird bitterness on the palate.

1 pint - 473 ml glass-bottle
Schöner cremiger Schaum, im Glas leicht dunkelrot-braun. Malziger Geruch.

2.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Actually tastes like they did blend two beers, so kudos, especially for this price point. Some interesting malt in the Porter. I guess a decent lager in there. And unique packaging. This was a lot better a decade plus ago (though, that would have to do with me and not the beer), but kudos to them for making a successful product, even if it isn’t that great and has a low score.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Type: 1-Quart bottle
Glass: Stone Ruination IPA glass
From: Trader Joe’s in La Mesa (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Jan. 4, 2014
Consumed: Jan. 9, 2014
Poured a mahogany brown clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of khaki gray head. Poor foamy lacing along the sides of the glass. Poor retention on the top.
Smelled black coffee, roasty nuts, dark chocolate, smoky woodfire and some toffee.
Tasted a lot mellower than the smell. First though was what the hell is this? Got black licorice, smoky woodfire, crayon, nuts and faint coffee. Big drop off from the nose.
Medium body. Oily texture. Soft carbonation. Abrupt finish.
This beer doesn’t quite fit the title. I think Mississippi dirt might be more appropriate.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
This black and tan poured a deep amber/red colour with a nice, tan coloured head with a little lacing. Scents include smoke, fruit juice, caramel malt and dough. First swig was quite watery with flavours of smoke, caramel and toast. Finish is smokey with a very mild bitterness flavor that doesn’t go anywhere.
