COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dating back to 18th century England, the custom of blending pale and dark beers has kept the "Black & Tan" a favorite of experienced beer drinkers for centuries. Our famous recipe combines a robust English Porter with a fine Continental Pilsner, preserving the character of each, while creating the classic taste of the legendary "Black & Tan." In true American style, we bring you the best of both beers as they meet in Mississippi Mud.

The mud must have come from a septic system drain field.

16 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 1/22/2015. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light coffee, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light coffee, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light coffee/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5%. Overall this is a nice black and tan style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

32 oz jug bottle from Biggie Wine & Liquor into a pint glass. Burnt dark orange to light brown and clear in appearance. Somewhat bland, light malty aroma with notes of toast, husky grains and a hint of caramel/toffee. Similar flavor, bland, mildly sweet and lightly bitter. A bit watery and hard to drink overall. Meh.

Svart med fingerhøyt lys brunt skum. Lukter fatlagret. Vanilje, whisky og alkohol. Lett. Smaker melkesjokolade, og noe kaffe og kakaopulver. Kort

Poured from their classic 32 OZ "jug" bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- has a very nice blend of malt, coffee and bread. Appearance- pours a clear reddish amber with a medium sized off-white head. Taste- has a nice cocoa flavor with a hint of smokiness. Overall, a good black & tan. It was better than I expected.

can @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear amber brown color, frothy beige head that slowly drops, clouds of lace. Aroma of thin malt. Taste is watery chocolate malt that moves through a weak palate to a finish that has, at best, hidden hops. Overall, isn’t a black and tan at all - just a thin, pretend Porter. I expected little more than another rating here, and it didn’t even deliver that.

Aroma is brown sugar. Pours flat - tiny head with no visible lacing. Flavor is toffee and caramel. I would rather pour my own black & tan, but it was fun trying this for an experiment.

This is a real good 5% beer that has a hint of dark beer with light beer, very refreshing.

Amber pour with small head and quite a bit of carbonation. Aroma faintly malty and sweetness. Flavor some roasted malt, very little hops. Not much of a body and nor really any finish. Still an enjoyable drink for what ii is and you’ve got to like the bottle!
