Commercial Description:
Mitchell's has two locations that are nowadays unrelated and they taste differently. The bottles look identical, but the label states if it's brewed in Cape Town or Knysna. The beers from the brewery in Knysna is ony distributed to the Garden Route (from Mossel Bay to Port Elizabeth), and to a few places inland from there. The Cape Town brewery supplies the rest of Soth Africa.
A heavy spicy ale, with gloriously round, full palate. Let this traditional Scottish Ale take you back in time as you savour the complex aromatic notes and full - bodied amber glow. Do, however treat it with respect!

Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty again with strong caramel notes, leading to a bitter end, that also as a twang of metal.

(On tap) Clear orangey brown with a dense, creamy, off-white head leaving laces. Aroma of burned caramel, fruit, nuts and port. Quite full-bodied, notes of burned caramel and some odd candy-like accents - or cookies perhaps. Lightly burned malt finish with some bitterness. Quite decent but not entitrely clean. 140508
