3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A dark reddish brown coloured beer with a frothy off white head. A caramel and bready aroma, then a cereal dustiness. Dry and fizzy mouthfeel. A dry cereal taste, malt, oats and wheat, with a nutty caramel and bread flavour bringing in a mild spiciness. There is a hint of zesty sourness in the background. The finish is well balanced, nutty caramel malt and mild, zesty hops.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500 ml bottle. Pours a dark copper colour with a small head. Aroma of dark bread, grass and syrup. Rich flavour of toasted malts, nuttiness, bread, syrupy sweetness and even some licorice root notes. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Brilliant balance. As the man below said, they should import beers like this to Finland.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled (from bierzwerg.de). Rubyish amber colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is fruity, floral, wooden and mildly spiced and ripe fruity. Flavour is very similar, but also has a nice subtle touch of smoked wet wood and mild toasted notes. At 4.7 % abv, some of the Finnish beer importers should start importing this, instead of a bunch of crap Germans they do import. In a way a bit simplistic, but with style.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
50cl bottle from allmyvinyl.
Appearance - a lovely copper colour with a red hue and then the head dies in seconds.
Nose - honey, caramel, some spicy biscuit far in the background. Also, a slight dirty/earthy note.
Taste - more caramel and toffee really.
Palate - medium bodied with a big sweet texture and a finish which isn’t really resolving itself, just leaving a cloying note.
Overall - a bit too sticky to be refreshing.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
My favourite of the two Mittenwalder beers that I’ve tried. Big on flavour and aroma but sweeter than English bitters. Goes well with gutsy gastro pub food and an open fire.
