This "girly beer" {according to the waiter), came as a .33L bottle despite being at the brewpub. with "dunklem Rostmalz", Served August 2012 in a Mittenwalder glass at the brewery. BB dated 4 dec. 2012. "verfuhrerischer, dunkler genuss fur den besonderen Moment" Crystal clear brown with visible carbonation. The fizzy tan head has limited retention and virtually no lacing. The aroma is sweet and mainly reflects roasted malt and alcohol. Thankfully, the flavor has more going on, with the alcohol taking a back seat. Still, overly sweet (cloying) and too much alcohol showing for a beer with this ABV. This did improve substantially with warming, becoming more flavorful and less sweet. Medium carbonation and body. O: a disappointing brew although not actually a bad beer.

(33cl bottle) Clear, dark brown colour with a ruby shine and a big and dense light-beige foamy head. Sweet roast-malty aroma, slightly earthy with notes of toffee and bread crusts. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Roast-malty base with caramel/toffee, Blockmalz and hints of dark chocolate; bitter-sweet roasty and slightly hoppy finish with a lasting aftertaste of caramel and chocolate. Balanced and tasty brew, despite the name, it´s a Dunkel (09.VIII.09).

Bottle at LCRBM3. Clear red chestnut colour with thin beige head. Lots of candy sugar. It’s ok with decent malt but a little doughy. Fine, if unexciting.

A Mes rate: Bottle at LCRBM3. Darkish red brown with a slight off white head. Malty, lots of caramel, nice and tangy with a little alcohol. A little on the sticky side. Quite resinous. So so.

Bottle@LCRBM. Very malty aroma. Brown color, beige head, fair lace. Sweet, chocolate, hints of vanilla, sticky mouthfeel.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2012 3rd LCRBM. Caramel and malt in the aroma. Sweetish flavor with roasted malt and caramel. Nice, tasty Schwarzbier, off the beaten German track. Will do very nicely in Mittenwald after a long walk in the surrounding mountains. .......and i did just that, in july 2012. Roastaroma. Roastmalt flavor. Bready but the roast is dominating.

Red-brown beer; small yellowish head. Breadish, sweet liqueurish nose, leaf-covered bread. Dry to sweetish taste, with a vinous-brandy finish. Potent! Very slick, alcoholwarming. Whatever this is, it has not the character of a Schwarzbier.
