2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Amber pour, decent white head. Big malt aroma but very little else - miniscule amount of citrusy hops. Taste was similar - there wasn’t much apart from the malt/caramel - very little bitterness or hoppiness to speak of. Warney - dead set legend. Warney beer - yeah, not so much..

330mL bottle. Pours slightly cloudy copper with a small lasting white head. Citrus zest and spice in the aroma with yeast esters. Spice and yeast esters seem to dominate the flavour.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draught at Stones Corner Hotel, Brisbane. Poured a slightly cloudy golden amber colour with a few millimetres of white bubbles for a head that retained poorly but laced OK. Carbonation low to medium with large bubbles. Aroma initially lager-like with strong malt but then followed by a mild hops presence. Taste initially moderately sweet but subdued then followed by a strong hops bitterness. Light body. Smooth, clean, crisp with a long but mildly bitter finish.

330ml bottle from Dan Murphys. Had to try it just for the Warne brand and being a past big Moa fan.... (until I discovered much better beer coming out of NZ). Not much to write home about here ; the Moa pale I find much nicer as this was fairly ordinary with little flavour and not so pleasant aroma. Went down well, but it was a hot day and there?s much better pales out there. I tried, but can honestly say I don?t think I?ll buy again.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2014 Malt forward - not an APA - hops missing in action - not that pleasant either. Next...!

Dans, nice looking beer of light hazy golden orange, thick open head stays till the end. Spicy, reisiny and quite bitter but works well with the fairly hefty malt (for a pale ale). Couldn’t really give a hoot about SKW and wonder if there anything to do with sales. Otherwise a pretty good beer.

Not that bad. Good look and nose, flavours are very earthy with and slight lingering bitterness. Drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A Warnie beer, eh. A genius on the field, but in matters of taste best known for the impressive feat of managing to be flattered by being said to send home for baked beans whilst on tour in India (it was really tinned spaghetti).
Bottle, 9C. Amber with a large white head that fades a bit but laces well and never disappears. Earthy and spicy aroma with caramel and grapefruit zest. Fairly light-bodied with highish carbonation, a bit minerally. Moderately sweet with a dryish bitter finish. Light caramel, peach, a little earthy mango, quite spicy at the end. Pleasant, bright clean flavours.
This is good: sessionable but not meek. Perhaps a tropical stout called Look Up the Weather Forecast Yourself will follow.
