Moa Breakfast is a European style beer brewed with a blend of premium wheat malt and a variety of floral hops. A very refreshing lager with an abundance of cherry character and aromas, Moa Breakfast is more commonly enjoyed as a mid-afternoon beverage here in New Zealand. Although not always.

Tasting Notes
Moa Breakfast is a wheat beer based lager with a subtle, sweet cherry aroma and taste. Hints of almond, banana and vanilla characters can also be detected. Low bitterness levels and an absence of strong malt characters emphasise these fruit flavours. Moa Breakfast can either be poured carefully off the lees or alternatively with the lees mixed in if a stronger yeast character is desired. Moa Breakfast is best served at approximately 4°C in a pilsner glass.

The aroma won me over with this brew. Lots of cherries and other fruits poured from the bottle. The flavor was light with the fruit and some sweet malt. The finish was light and refreshing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12.7 fl oz / 375ml corked and caged bottle into a Samuel Adams glass. Served cold. Aroma: Bright and fruity cherries! A little spice maybe. This smells like good morning smiles. Appearance: Bright and kind of hazy, translucent yellow body with a rocky, very fluffy, very large white head that gradually fizzes away. Very bubbly body. Taste: Aw yeah, sweet and tart cherry. Nice light malty, bready flavor. It tastes like good fresh cherry jam on real bread. Really, really tasty. Palate: Very light body, but not watery at all. Bright. Fizzy. Refreshing. Overall: What a wonderful beer! I feel like I could drink this every morning with breakfast.

Poured from the bottle and tried too wait for breakfast but I’ve been too busy so I busted it out tonight. Instantly noticed the Champaign like head and flavor. Even dryness. The fruit is definitely cherry! Pretty good and I can see how it would be good for breakfast.

Bottle from Beer Cartel. Hazy light gold, aroma is bubblegum (reminds me of Hubba Bubba when I was a kid), sickly-sweet fruit, more raspberry lollies than cherry, at least there’s some wheat and yeast characters in the flavour to tone down the sweetness. Quite light and watery, not great at all. Sorry Moa, not one of your best.

Appearance: Pours a hazed, light gold body with a medium-sized, fizz-fueled, white head.

Smell: Ah, geez, it’s one of those five-buck medicinal cherry beers. I want this cleared up right now!

Taste: You can tell there’s a wheat-laced lager underneath a cherry flavor leaning towards Robitussin, which is the bulk of the taste lasting beyond the crisp finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: The medicinal quality of this one is an instant turn off for me. Not the best use of five bucks, I must say.

Bottled@HBF2013. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is passion fruits, and that’s about it. Flavour is fruits, toffee and overall rather sweet.

Aroma: Sweet cherry, light bubblegum & wheat. Appearance: Looks very carbonated, quite a thin head, lightly cloudy, pale straw colour. Taste: First taste of a nice wheat beer, hints of banana and vanilla, second taste of bitter cherry and bubblegum, a bit metallic. Palate: Creamy in the mouth, medium carbonation, overly metallic and bitter after-taste. Overall: A nice aroma, although a bit sweet. Taste is very preferential, lovely wheat beer flavours, but the cherry is a bit sweet on the nose, and bitter to the taste.

From AC Beer Fest 2013. The aroma is bubblegum, banana, cherries. Hazy yellow color. The flavor is identical, but less sweet than expected. The finish is cereal grain, slightly acidic. Not bad.
