COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa Breakfast is a European style beer brewed with a blend of premium wheat malt and a variety of floral hops. A very refreshing lager with an abundance of cherry character and aromas, Moa Breakfast is more commonly enjoyed as a mid-afternoon beverage here in New Zealand. Although not always.

Tasting Notes
Moa Breakfast is a wheat beer based lager with a subtle, sweet cherry aroma and taste. Hints of almond, banana and vanilla characters can also be detected. Low bitterness levels and an absence of strong malt characters emphasise these fruit flavours. Moa Breakfast can either be poured carefully off the lees or alternatively with the lees mixed in if a stronger yeast character is desired. Moa Breakfast is best served at approximately 4įC in a pilsner glass.

Smells of bubblegum. Flavor is a bit soapy. I generally love nelson hops, but cherry beers have to be done just right to avoid tasting like cough syrup, or in this case soapy. Itís OK, just not a combo I would ever rech for.

Bottle at Danís courtesy of Aaron. Thanks man. . .I think. Pour is golden in appearance with no head. Smell is big bubble tape, cough syrup, soap, medicinal, and raspberries. Taste is big cough syrup, dish soap, pepto, tang, and flowers. Mouthfeel is light with high carbonation. Why must Aaron torture me with these beers, wtf.

Pour out of 375 mL bottle, thanks Aaron! Pour is clear yellow with white head, aroma brings notes of robitussen, some bubble tape, hints of vanilla, cherry cola vanilla, touch of earth and cough syrup, yuck. Taste is nasty cough syrup, biscuit, vanilla, bitter grimey medicine notes, finishing with some chalk, alkaline nastiness, finishing bitter and dry and chalky. This is really, really bad.

Bottle @ Danís house. Fairly clear yellow appearance with a white head. Spritzy, off brand cherry cola/candy, very carbonated aroma. Tangy, cherry cough syrup, very carbonated, bubble gum flavor. Seriously, what the fuck.

Bottle, this ale had a yellow-gold pour (there was a little haze), and made a two to three finger white head that receded to a thin cover, the glass had a medium or so stream of carbonation in the center, it left some spots and small fingers of lacing on the sides of the glass, and I found a thin partial cover of sediment on the bottom of the bottle, there were aromas of sweet cherry fruit with a little banana and pineapple in the background, wine grapes, it had lots of fruit sweetness, sugary sweetness, the sweetness is sort of overbearing on the nose, it was hard for me to detect any else on the nose, the flavors were wheat, some cherry fruit and a little fruit sweetness, there was a faint bitterness after the finish, the flavor was not as sweet compared to the nose, the mouth feel was light with airy carbonation on the tongue, the nose was very sweet and I could hardly smell anything else, almost an overbearing sweetness, the flavor was not so sweet, and this beer was light and some what refreshing.

Really like the grape/cherry aroma taste from the NS hops, soft pillowy floral notes. Light straw in color. Has light touches all throughout, malt holds back and hops stand on their own to showcase the fruitiness of Nelson hops and very light cherry. Complex and well brewed

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2012 Bottle to Weizen glass. I tried to pour slowly but saw a clump of lees leap from the bottle into the glass. Light golden pour that is very effervescent. Looks like a marigold champagne with the tiny bubbles racing to the top of the glass making sure the 1/2 finger white head stays around. Aroma is raspberry, strawberry, honeydew, and pear. Taste is wheat up front followerd by a mixed berry sweetness. Hop bitterness appears at the end of the sip. I didnít think age would help this beer much but Iím thinking that 6-9 months might be enough time for the flavors,to blend together better than they do today. The berry-like character was a pleasant surprise.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2012 bottle. lightly hazed golden body, highly effervescent with soda sized bubbles and a tall white head that settles quickly. perfumed floral cider nose has a distinct antacid calcium and fruit quality, at times resembling pink bismuth tablets and other times smelling of berry-scented bath soap. light body starts clean but the calcium, chalky dried bubble gum, banana-flavored candy and floral soap character grows. I donít find myself enjoying it even though the body and carbonation are nice, itís the flavor thatís all sorts of yuck, truly.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2012 If you think a good breakfast beer can only be a hearty ale, hereís something to prove you wrong. This is a lovely, refreshing, crisp beer, Banana Bread style. Pours light blond but healthy golden, with a generous white head and jolly carbonation. Aromas of berries and banana, perhaps some of that Juicy Fruits chewing gum too. Medium body, with a brilliant combination of malty flavours and cherry, Juicy Fruits and hops. Finish is long, with a delicious bitterness holding the fruitiness down. To have for breakfast - nice weekend light breakfast, with fruits, cereal and yoghurts. I love it!
