COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa Breakfast is a European style beer brewed with a blend of premium wheat malt and a variety of floral hops. A very refreshing lager with an abundance of cherry character and aromas, Moa Breakfast is more commonly enjoyed as a mid-afternoon beverage here in New Zealand. Although not always.

Tasting Notes
Moa Breakfast is a wheat beer based lager with a subtle, sweet cherry aroma and taste. Hints of almond, banana and vanilla characters can also be detected. Low bitterness levels and an absence of strong malt characters emphasise these fruit flavours. Moa Breakfast can either be poured carefully off the lees or alternatively with the lees mixed in if a stronger yeast character is desired. Moa Breakfast is best served at approximately 4°C in a pilsner glass.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2012 bottle. lightly hazed golden body, highly effervescent with soda sized bubbles and a tall white head that settles quickly. perfumed floral cider nose has a distinct antacid calcium and fruit quality, at times resembling pink bismuth tablets and other times smelling of berry-scented bath soap. light body starts clean but the calcium, chalky dried bubble gum, banana-flavored candy and floral soap character grows. I don’t find myself enjoying it even though the body and carbonation are nice, it’s the flavor that’s all sorts of yuck, truly.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2012 If you think a good breakfast beer can only be a hearty ale, here’s something to prove you wrong. This is a lovely, refreshing, crisp beer, Banana Bread style. Pours light blond but healthy golden, with a generous white head and jolly carbonation. Aromas of berries and banana, perhaps some of that Juicy Fruits chewing gum too. Medium body, with a brilliant combination of malty flavours and cherry, Juicy Fruits and hops. Finish is long, with a delicious bitterness holding the fruitiness down. To have for breakfast - nice weekend light breakfast, with fruits, cereal and yoghurts. I love it!

Bright, incredibly fruity, banana, vanilla, toffee, lots of esters...bubblegum, overripe berries, aspartame. Spritsy. Ample carbonation. Unique and cider-like. Interesting but not overly enjoyable.

Pours a clear pale straw color which results in an explosive three finger that quickly collapses to a thin lacing dies down. Tons of lively carbonation and bubble trails lends to a champagne-like appearance.Big aroma of cherry, bubblegum, and licorice are the first smells to land. A moderately malty toasted grain and floral hop notes help balance things out slightly. I also noted some underlying yeast. As the first sip settles on the front palate the first thing I noticed was a combination of Belgian yeast and cherry licorice follow by a very dry bitter bite similar to seltzer water. It’s a unique taste that it hard to put into words. I found it more pleasant as the pour warmed a bit. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic and bitter. The mouthfeel is highly carbonated and fairly light Finish is dry and lightly astringent. Very drinkable.Overall, I was somewhat impressed by this beer. Although, I have to admit, I picked it up partly because I thought the packaging was pretty cool and I liked the concept of a “Breakfast Beer.” This was my first Moa beer and while it was offbeat, I enjoyed the experience.

Bottle, best by 18.7.13. Poured a hazy golden with a quick white head. Aroma of wheat and cherry. The flavor found an initial orange citrus that turned to a must cherry and wheat. Light body with a light cherry aftertaste.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with strong notes of banana and cherry. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, fizzy carbonation. Quite a banana-cherry bomb...some toasty malt underneath that, but banana and cherry absolutely dominate the nose. Not unpleasant but very sweet and soda pop-like.

375ml bottle in a weizen. Pours golden with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of wheat and caramel malts and cherries and floral hops. The cherries are added lightly to not overpower the wheat beer. Average texture. More beers with fruit added should learn from this one and not add too much.

GreatLibations (1854) - Last Supper, Arizona, USA - JUN 21, 2012
Bright pale golden with a standing head. Big aroma with the kind of freshness you expect from a fresh cut cold melon. Smells of that old school yellow gum, tropicals and a defined cherry essence that blends perfectly and balanced. Medium full nectar with excellent carbonation. Excellent nose to tongue follow through. A bit of kiwi style acidity and mild bittering on the end. A unique specimen.
