COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa Breakfast is a blend of premium wheat malt, floral Nelson hops and cherries. A very refreshing and fruity lager specifically designed as a European-style breakfast beer but more commonly enjoyed as a mid-afternoon beverage in New Zealand. Although not always.

Tasting Notes
Moa Breakfast is a wheat beer based lager with a subtle, sweet cherry aroma and taste. Hints of almond, banana and vanilla characters can also be detected. Low bitterness levels and an absence of strong malt characters emphasise these fruit flavours. Moa Breakfast can either be poured carefully off the lees or alternatively with the lees mixed in if a stronger yeast character is desired. Moa Breakfast is best served at approximately 4°C in a pilsner glass.

Aroma: like new plastic and tart raspberries. Appearance: cloudy straw colored wheat beer with a small white head. Flavors: Freeze-dried raspberries and wheat with an alcoholic, dark-Belgian- beer-like finish that lingers. Aftertaste is a little sweet, with raspberry character. Palate: medium carbonic bite. Medium-light mouthfeel I really enjoy this beer because it has a low profile raspberry flavor that is in no way sweet. It is more tart, and maintains a true Belgian beer character. The alcohol is apparent but not overly so. Overall, it is an easy drink and would probably pair well with most food. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle purchased at Nugget in Woodland. The aroma on this is fucked! It’s a cross between mothball and Grey Poupon Mustard. Light underlying peach is also there. What the fuck? Smells like my Great Aunt Ethel’s house. Slightly hazed piss yellow body with a small, rapidly dissipating fizzy white head. Starts with a shit ton of spritzy carbonation, which essential hides any and all flavors. Light peach comes through in the middle with some orange rind. Finishes with mineral character, and a mild bitterness. Not sure what the hell this is, but it’s really not enjoyable at all. So freaking carbonated.

A little gem sampled in Colorado I believe. Red licorice aroma. Flavour is light but the aroma is amazing!!

Moa Breakfast is a medium hazy light golden liquid with a full head of tiny white bubbles and active carbonation. Nose is crisp and has elements of citrus and stone fruit. There is also an element of earthy funkiness which is different for sure. Taste is light and crisp faint hints of apricots and wheat. Mild hops. Body is fluid but fizzy. Finishes with a lingering hint of earth and malt. A very light, crisp and clean fruit beer.

During a night of drinking, we stopped in Nathaniels and I took a chance on this without knowing the style, but the bottle looked nice. Yuck, a fruit beer. Poured a hazy straw body. Aroma is moderately sweet, cherry, light cereal, grape. Taste is moderately sweet, cherry, light grape, cereal. I guess might have been better received on a hot day of lawn cutting.

Bottle from colonial spirits. Holy shit that smells like fruit loops. Pours a mostly clear medium golden color with a huge fluffy white head that persists forever. Very fruity aroma, cherry, raspberry, banana, powdered sugar, with hints of clove and a light yeasty phenol. The flavor is sweet and fruity less like fruit loops but more like skittles. Sweet sugar mixed with strawberry, raspberry, cherry and banana. Lingering sweet fruity sugary flavor long after every sip. Medium body with a spirited level of carbonation and a sweet slick bubbly mouthfeel. This is certainly different, but I really enjoyed it. The flavors are kind of artificial but they don’t hit you over the head or cloy. I could drink this again, and given the price I might just do that. About half what that other New Zealand brewery that distributes here charges and in a much cooler bottle.

A big bubblegum smell and taste. A little peppery in the back taste. Very clean. Really different. A strange beer for sure. Thanks Mike.

The head is medium. It smells medicine, strange, a bit sour, malty. The taste is bit dry, fruity, medicine. Overall not so good

Poured from bottle at northside cafe. They had this listed under stout in accident or I wouldn't have ordered this fruity pile of hell. It actually wasn't bad. Could see why the call it a breakfast beer - light and fruity.

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Mike! Bright, burnt gold body with a foamy, fizzy white head... Looks like a gueuze. Aroma is cherry bubblegum. Seriously... Cherry flavored Double Bubble. Sweet cherry, wheat, faint yeast. Medicinal. Taste isn’t as sweet as aroma indicates. Dry bubblegum yeast, dry cherry flavors, hefty wheat finish. Aftertaste is blunted quick without much finish. Mild floral hop notes. Different, strange... pretty mediocre.
