Moa The Hoppit displays lots of New Zealand hop characters, passionfruit, pine (herbaceous), grapefruit and fresh, sweet tropical hop aromas. A golden, orange hue with a great hop haze. Rich malt tones, almost toasted with a lingering marmaladey bitterness that displays a sharp but smooth, sweet finish. Dry hopped seven times over two weeks, this beer is massive on the senses.

Draft at apex. Pours a murky dark amber with a dense and creamy off white head. Lots of sheeting lace. Musty, damp bread dough nose. Creamy medium body with wooly carb. Nitrogen and damp bread dough on the mid palate. Earthy laundry finish.

On tap at Moon Under Water, Victoria. Pours clear copper (rubeh tones), lasting white head. Nose is CTZ herb/spice/earthiness, dry hopped orange, some grape but not as predominant as in their (stellar) pale ale, crystal malt. Flavour is not too bitter with earthy fruitiness and crystal malt, oily palate, no tannins. More CTZ than NZ; this was quite nice.

On tap at Apex. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A light tropical fruit nose. A smooth floral flavor, easy drinking, some tea, crispness, low bitterness, some resin and fruit. Mellow. Good beer overall.

It’s a bit of a hop-overdose this one with massive resinous and tropical fruit aromas. The colour was orange- amber with a good collar of head considering it came from gas-flow. For something that was dry-hopped so much, the flavour wasn’t overwhelmingly bitter or too much of anything. Sure, it has a massive hoppiness with spruce, herbal anger and malty fruitiness, but I was surprised at how drinkable this was.

On tap at Biercraft on The Drive in Vancouver. Big hops and big malts in the same glass. This is a great one, and a great reason to drop by Biercraft tomorrow for another. More detail, hopefully, tomorrow.

On tap at Taps in Petaluma. Pours a hazy pale brown color without much head. Mild hop flavors but there seems to be a number of different hop flavors that don't come together too well. A little too sweet.

On tap at Apex, pours an opaque orange with a small white head. Aroma of doughy notes, some slightly orange-like fruity notes, and moderate floral hops. Flavour brings out loads of oranges, doughy malts and floral hops. Not very hoppy, but very fruity and light on the palate. Highly drinkable, and not suggestive of a higher alcohol beer. Great stuff.

Pours a nice copper on tap with fluffy off-white head that leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is heavy on the caramel malt and booze, with a hint of floral citrus behind. Taste is more balanced, with a boozy bitter hop ending. Different than what I’m used to, but good.

Poured a lovely copper on tap into a tulip. Nose is freshly floral. Very hoppy taste, dominated by bitterness with not a lot of subtlety. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
