Tasting Notes
Moa Imperial Stout is a very strong, bold upfront and rich offering of a famous beer style. Aged in Pinot Noir barrels, this beer not only displays coffee and mocha charters but also some sweet and spicy notes. A tannin like finish and an oak induced mellow bitterness makes it a serious stout. Moa Imperial Stout is best served just below room temperature in a tulip glass.

2 for 2 with this brewery so far. Worth $14.99/four pack, which is what they’re on sale for at Whole Foods. The regular $18.99/four pack is pretty rough. Poured into a Duvel tulip, this sucker created a nearly two-inch head, even with the softest pour. Black body and creamy tan head. Nose shows vinous notes as well as cocoa... dark fruits coming through and some oak. Taste runs sweet to nicely cocoa bitter and just a hint of sour wood/fruit at the end. Long finish and great complexity. Soft palate.

Aroma is of very rich maltiness with some vanilla, espresso, and coffee notes. Taste is a complex roasty maltiness that has some perfectly balanced hopiness. Some warm liquor and hop bitterness on tip. Appearance is a very dark amber with a bubbly head that retains fairly well.

375mL bottle, corked. This beer was pretty good even though I admittedly expect a lot from Imp Stouts these days. The pour, and appearance were on point, and while the aroma wasn’t as full as I expected, nothing unpleasant. The taste was similar to others I’ve had with all the usual flavors, but the palate was maybe just a little bit thin compared to others. Not a bad beer at all, I’d definitely try others from Moa.

Bottle shared by czar, thanks a lot bro! Pours a dark purple-ish brown with an offwhite rim that leaves really light lacing. Nose is of grapes, roasted malt and generally fruity. Taste is fruity, not tart but has a really gentle acid edge. No awkward sugar, roasted malt and some winey notes. Body was medium, mouthfeel almost juicy and the alcohol is warming but not "hot". Nice!

czar (3805) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 18, 2014
pours medium dark brown reddish with a small light beige head showing some retention and lacing. very peppery and boozy, burnt hazelnuts, dry molasses, harsh and bitter coffee, bit of smoke, muted vinous character if not some red fruitiness, hint of vanilla. moderate to low carbonation, light to medium body, bittering coffee and peppery finish. pinot noir seemed like a good idea.. or maybe better suited for another type of ris.

Nice complexity, Plenty of dark fruit notes, cocoa, slgith roast and lighter body which hurts it a bit.

Bottle from Ware House Liqours, Chicago. Pitch black beer eith a very nice lasting beige/brownish head. Malty caramel aroma, vinous, figs, caramel, licorice, roasted, chocolate, licorice, some winegum. Artificial flavor, rubber, grapes, caramel, some chocolate. I get the feeling something is wrong, since the flavors is very strange.

Deep complexity from the malts, hops and the expression from the alcohol, very enjoyable.

Drank from a bottle at home. A good, strong tasting stout. Looks really beautiful in the glass.

Pours a very dark brown almost black, not much head. Pinot noir on the nose, with some spice too. The wine is very present on the palate, with a hint of oak and sweetness on the finish.
