2 for 2 with this brewery so far. Worth $14.99/four pack, which is what they’re on sale for at Whole Foods. The regular $18.99/four pack is pretty rough. Poured into a Duvel tulip, this sucker created a nearly two-inch head, even with the softest pour. Black body and creamy tan head. Nose shows vinous notes as well as cocoa... dark fruits coming through and some oak. Taste runs sweet to nicely cocoa bitter and just a hint of sour wood/fruit at the end. Long finish and great complexity. Soft palate.

Corked bottle, picked up in Kelowna B.C. Shared with my smoking hot wife. Pours opaque, with a oily tan head, no lace. Nose is dark fruit, sweet sugar, toffe, fudge. Tastes sweet, sugar, touch of dark chocolate, bitter coffe. Tastes beverage.

500 ml bottle bought at YATA in MOKO, Mong Kok.
Looks: Opaque deep blackish brown with a thin traceof yeast sedimentsNear zero head with residual soapy light beige foam which fades in 5 seconds. Good sticky lacing with near zero carbonation.
Aroma: Fragrant and sweet full dark malt, with nice strong oak, strong caramel, raisins, alcohol, coffee, cream, chocolate, sugar, yeast, very light lemon and thin grass.
Taste: Strong sweet dark malt, with very strong roastyness, roasted nuts, caramel, light toffee, strong burnt toast, black coffee, light chocolate, quite strong alcohol, liquorices, sugar, dry biscuits, yeast, lemon, very strong bitter hops and sharp grass.
Body: Medium body; Thin but very slick palate.
Mouth Feel: Very solid dark maltyness in a pretty watery background. Lack of carbo certainly doesn’t help that thinned feeling. Strong oak barrel flavor with slight smokiness dominates, so much so it overwhelm much of the nice roasted nuts and caramel, leaving the naked booze. Lots of burnt toast, black coffee and hops which boost the bitterness, which taste quite good considering the strong sugary sweetness. Strong lemon to round. Quite alright.
Alcohol: The 10.2% booze is upfront but doesn’t scream often, quite easy to go down with liquorice and slight knock-on. Not bad!
Hoppiness: Very light lemon and thin grass in nose, and much stronger taste. Bitterness is very strong and boosted by the malty burnt toast for a lasting, very high astringent sweet-bitter finish.
After taste: Quite dry. Roasty, sweet and very bitter to mouth.
Comments: This one has got most of the style’s attributes, yet it was hampered by the lack of carbo and thin body which plagued Moa’s Reserved series. It’s tasted a tad too thin for my liking, and it’s not sophisticated as it should. The French oak somehow overshadow everything. Quite drinkable but also pretty disappointing.

Bit of a wollap, first glass was fairly averagish, the second really bought out the chocolate and plums and that punch from a 10.2% By the time I finished the 500ml bottle (NZ $6.59) I was a convert. Full bodied, full flavoured and great aftertaste. Sits well in my 8oz glass like a 1983 Mobil.
value for money... look no further!!

Beerfest Asia, Singapore on 25/06/15. 50cl bottle, shared. Clear dark brown in colour with a frothy beige head. Medium to full body, medium to soft carbonation. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Good flavour profile - coffee, malt, berries, and a little chocolate and oak. Sweet, slightly oily with a nice bitter aftertaste. A pretty well balanced imperial stout.
