COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa Methode is bottle fermented and conditioned to give a natural, more consistent carbonation and flavour. Due to the natural brewing process of Methode Moa, a light, beneficial sediment will remain. This sediment protects the beer from premature aging and leaves full, slightly spicy characters on the palate.

Tasting Notes
Moa Methode is a German style pilsner with a high bitterness balanced with a relatively full mouth feel. Citrus hop characters dominate aroma with the presence of fresh bread yeast notes. It can either be poured carefully off the lees or alternatively with the lees mixed in if a strong yeast character is desired. Moa Methode is a complex pilsner best served in a pilsner glass at approximately 6˚C to maximise aromatic release.

An exciting pilsner/ saison style. Very herby nose, mildly spiced. Purchased a 1.5l magnum of it would you believe? Easy drinking and well balanced, bitterness of hops gives way to a Smooth finish ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: NOV 30, 2008 Tasted 24/04/2005. 750ml champagne style bottle from Moore Wilsons, Wellington. Pale golden beer with a huge pure white rocky head that’s reminiscent of Duvel. Aroma is absolutely superb: floral, citrus fruits and just a touch of spice, well balanced, very fresh and aptly clean. Light-medium body delivers a nice citrus hop flavour that melds well with a good pale malt sweetness up front. The sweetness and body improve as the beer warms slightly. Some yeast left in the bottle as the last glass is a touch cloudy (but that’s ok by me). Slightly firey carbonation and a touch too pithy in the palate are the only weaknesses of this interesting lager. Almost up there with Emerson’s Pilsner as one of the better NZ lagers I’ve tried.

This is an interesting brew, sweet hop aroma on the nose, it’s bittering finish from champagne yeast also makes it pils/saison in style. Mouth feel is great from natural carbonation this is a great brew and worth trying ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Brought back by my parents from a world cruise: green 375ml bottle, best before 21 Oct 2013. Poured into a Duvel glass on 23 May 2012. Really impressed with this beer: golden with a huge white head. Great tasting brew with a yeasty, piney nose. It may well be classed as a german Pilsner by the brewers but it carries a lot more bite, flavour and body than any other beer I’ve had in that style. Another reason why I’d like to visit New Zealand.

Beautiful white collar traces its snow paths over the cloudy, yet shining golden hue. Bready and grainy nose showcases clean and crunchy pils malt. Heavy on the cereals for a pilsner, but I guess its traditional method gives it wings and enhances the palate further into a relatively thick, finely bubbled palate. One of its best features has got to be the flavour deployment, starting thick, but fresh with its pils malts, but intense on the hops. This is the kind of beer which would fit any meal. Bubbles are uniform and tight, avoiding excessive bite. Hops take a growing role in mouth, drying out the finish to the max. Lemon, herbs and spices make up the finish with soft notes of earth, mint and pepper. Phew, what a pleasurable offering!

Enormous frothy head. Bite at the back, tarty and flat. Feels like alot more alcohol than 5.5%. Very morish beer.

Hazy straw color with a tall, billowing, non-ending, off-white head. I think the head is actually still growing out of my New Belgium glass. LIght caramel, dough, and floral hops in the aromas. Light pale malt start. middle has lots of dry floral to herbal hops. Full, yet soft and bubbly feel. A pils with a hint of golden ale in it. Lightly spicy and a bit of citric zest in the finish, until a creamy caramel flavor linger. A very pleasant brew.

This is the shit as far as I am concerned. Co-drinkers were criticizing because its more like a Belgian beer or something. I dont care, this stuff is great. I got first pour and the head was by far the biggest head I have ever seen on a beer. Filled the glass 95% head, 5% beer. Highly, highly carbonated. Cloudy golden color, slight whiff of halttertau hops. Very aromatic fruity mouth. Moderately bitter, but great depth. Some where between Czech and Belgium, but not Germany. Figure that out!

UPDATED: NOV 30, 2008 Bottle (750ml champagne-style), poured a cloudy pale gold with a white foamy head. A pleasant aroma, with both fruity and flowery characteristics, as well as an evident yeast presense - citrus fruit being the most dominant. Effervescent on the palate, though reasonably smooth with that citrus again coming through well. The finish releases a more earthy malt palate. A soft mouthfeel, with some qualities that are reminiscent of a Belgium blond ale.

Unique and terrific in every respect! Bottled and corked as though it were champagne, it is an accurate metaphor. This beer looks and tastes superb: pale gold, slightly hazy, huge pillowy head creates generous lace. Aromas of floral hops, citrus zest, faint yeast and intangible vegetation. Mouth filling freshness of citrus hops and malt along with proper carbonation make this a perfect mouthful. I agree with "yalnikim" that this, along with emerson’s Pilsner, gets my vote for the best lager in New Zealand.
