COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa Methode is bottle fermented and conditioned to give a natural, more consistent carbonation and flavour. Due to the natural brewing process of Methode Moa, a light, beneficial sediment will remain. This sediment protects the beer from premature aging and leaves full, slightly spicy characters on the palate.

Tasting Notes
Moa Methode is a German style pilsner with a high bitterness balanced with a relatively full mouth feel. Citrus hop characters dominate aroma with the presence of fresh bread yeast notes. It can either be poured carefully off the lees or alternatively with the lees mixed in if a strong yeast character is desired. Moa Methode is a complex pilsner best served in a pilsner glass at approximately 6˚C to maximise aromatic release.

Bottle 09-09-19 from SAQ : Hazy yellow in color super fizzy rocky white head. Nose is somehow floral, funky. We’re close to the saison here. Bitterness is sharp the body is medium. Malt profile is crisp and refreshing

A hazy yellow gold beerwith a thick creamy lacing white head. In aroma, a nice spiced malt with wild herbs, light Brett notes, some white pepper, and coriancer. In mouth, wow, its Saison Dupont, with crips malt, herbal hops, coriander, some crispness to style with pils, meeting a very determined Belgian yeast. I’m glad the SAQ brought those in. Bought at Oliver’s, Albany (as aprt of a mix pack), August 2009.

Beautiful white collar traces its snow paths over the cloudy, yet shining golden hue. Bready and grainy nose showcases clean and crunchy pils malt. Heavy on the cereals for a pilsner, but I guess its traditional method gives it wings and enhances the palate further into a relatively thick, finely bubbled palate. One of its best features has got to be the flavour deployment, starting thick, but fresh with its pils malts, but intense on the hops. This is the kind of beer which would fit any meal. Bubbles are uniform and tight, avoiding excessive bite. Hops take a growing role in mouth, drying out the finish to the max. Lemon, herbs and spices make up the finish with soft notes of earth, mint and pepper. Phew, what a pleasurable offering!

Bottle: Poured a hazy golden color pilsner with a super huge foamy pure white head with frothy retention and super great lacing- almost reminiscent of Orval. Aroma of semi sweet malt with floral and grassy notes and light dry hoppy finish. Taste is dominated by refreshing semi-sweet malt with light grassy notes and floral undertones and light hoppy Saaz finish. Body is quite full with super great carbonation. Very well done thought more Saaz hops would have benefited this beer.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2009 375ml bottle. Pours clear pale yellow with a nice huge foamy head. Slightly skunked. Nose of yeast esters, a bit herbal. Some citrus fruit. Taste is yeasty and a bit herbal with some bittering hops all along. Head leaves quite a lot of lacing. Small bitterness on the finish. Really gorgeous head ! Interesting beer ! Really feels like a saison. Re-rate 090927. Nose is bitter hoppy, spicy malt and yeasty fruity esters. Some hints of biscuit malt and light brett/wild hint. Very clean and crisp nose. Feels fresh, crisp and fruity. Head is like you had poured whip cream on top of the beer. taste is light bitter hops, some yeast and herbs. Finish is yeasty esters. Over from 14 to 15. Aroma 8 to 9. Really nice beer !

My Bottom Line:
This elegant Pilsener presents a panorama of aromas and flavors full of nuances, from hay to herbs, from citrus fruit to drops of cream, all in a fiercely bubbly, Champenoise conditioning. Its flavor profile lies in a world of finesse between the eloquent rusticity of Franconian lagers and the crisp humility of Northern German pilseners.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A rocky head of white foam laces all around misty straw blond.
-If I keep feeling compelled to drink this, I’ll have to increase its points over 4.0!
-All is perfectly balanced till the very last shadow of the aftertaste.
-The finish is nicely dried out, while still offering some pillowy comfort for the tastebuds.

Bottles.

Bottle. Pour is golden with a frothy white head that hangs around for a while and leaves good lacing behind. Herbal aromas with a hint of citrus and fruit. Mouthfeel is short but satisfying. Taste is sweet and fruity in at the beginning and gets cutoff by a good dry bitter finish.
