COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa Noir is a traditionally brewed European style dark lager with an abundance of distinct aromas and flavours. Chocolate and richly roasted coffee beans dominate the senses with a full flavoured palate, giving Moa Noir a long smooth finish. A perfect beer for the changing of seasons.

Tasting Notes
Moa Noir is a European style dark lager/ Munchner Dunkel. It is a dark brown beer with hues of red and a characteristic strong white foam. Malt dominates with chocolate, coffee and biscuit flavours apparent. Bitterness is low to emphasise malt flavours. Subtle bitterness rounds out the after taste and mouth feel. Hop aroma is minimal. Moa Noir is best served at approximately 6˚C in a pilsner glass.

likable, coffee dominates the malt flavour. not much bitterness to be found and rather light beneath the malts, but quite enjoyable really.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2013 Re-rate. Aroma: cereal, roasty, chocolate, oak, grape. Appearance: a black red appearance, very thin light brown head. Taste: medium bitterness, medium sourness, taste is quite different from what you would expect from a dunkel, very heavy oak flavours, can taste the wine flavours coming through. Overall a very interesting beer, but I do not like it. The oak is just far too overpowering to be pleasant for me. Worth a try though.

Not a bad beer. There actually was much substance than what I thought. OK flavour and prickly carbonation, some slight roast.

12.7oz bottle in a lager glass. Pours deep brown with a fluffy, cream-colored head. Aroma of caramel and nutty malts, a little bread and dough, and some floral hops. Flavor the same with a nice balance. Average texture. A pretty good beer for the style.

Hazy dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is semi dry and just a little soft. Minerals. Mildly sour malt with a whisper of smoke. Very mild red berry fruits underneath. Dry finish. A decent little beer.

Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Nose of roast coffee, roast chocolate and smoked malt. Taste is lacking - mostly likely smoked and roasted chocolate malt. Body is very thin. Lacks complexity.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2012 Not very versed in the "Dunkel" style, I think this is a nice beer. Black coca cola colour, with a firm head and plenty of large bubbles breaking through it. very weak aroma of chocolates and coffee. Taste is a bit too much coffee over the chocolates, grassy and the roasted malts. Some charred bitterness too. Sticky palate. It’s a pleasant drink. As much as I love the ultra heavy bottles of Moa beers, I hate the über-gay (both in a John Key sense and the other) contemporary design of the new labels.

Once the hard to remove cork was extracted, this was poured from the ~25 oz bottle into a pint glass. A very dark brown color with a towering, long-lasting head. Plenty of sticky lacing. Has a rather sour aroma of malt with some spiciness. Flavorful, with a generous, but not extreme, load of medium and dark malt. There’s some chocolate, a hint of coffee and a touch of hops, but little of the sourness present in the aroma. A good amount of carbonation. Medium/full bodied with a very smooth finish.
