COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa Original Lager is a classically brewed lager created from a blend of New Zealand premium malts and world famous Nelson Sauvin hops. This beer shows an array of crisp and dry characters on the palate but also has a clean floral nose.

Tasting Notes
Moa Original is an easy drinking, European style pilsner with a medium to high level of bitterness. Ester levels are low, and a slight hop aroma should be detected. The finish is dry as a result of the bitterness and the high level of attenuation. Moa Original is best served in a pilsner glass at approximately 6˚C to maximise aromatic release. A beer for any occasion.

Not much in the aroma. Some pils malt but that’s about it. Flavor is sweet (slightly fruity) with an almost balanced, clean bitterness. Appearance is just off crystal clear and bright yellow. Little head. High carbonation. I’d like it better with the sweetness dialed back a tad and more in the aroma (though that could be my senses at the moment).

Little to differentiate it from countless other bog standard premium lagers.

On tap @ Moa, Blenheim. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. The aroma is grassy, bit grainy. Clear, golden coloured with a white head. The taste is grassy, bit malty. Crisp mouthfeel. Nice.

A clean, dry, hoppy lager that shows faint glimpses of the white wine character that Nelson Sauvin are known well for. The fruitiness comes across much like skinless pear, Chardonnay, bubble gum and such, with a pale malt cracker and toasted bread character. Medium-light body, medium sweetness in the approach, drying in a relatively bitter finish. It’s cleanly fermented and the hops are juicy but the malt expression is mild. There is a noticeable twang of corn syrup and the carbonation seems forced rather than natural, which gives it a coarseness not found in other Moa products. Clear gold with a small white head. From bottle.

Bottle: Pours slightly dirty gold, a little hazed....with a tall, cream-white head. Sweet, bready malt aroma. Taste is light fruit, bread. Mild, grassy hopping. Very light, but very flavourful. Nice.
