COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa South Pacific I.P.A. is a New Zealand take on a popular North American beer style. Using famous Cascade and Nelson Sauvin hops, the dominant features in this beer are unique to New Zealand and the Moa bottle conditioned brewing method. Its hoppy strength displays powerful floral, citrus and tropical notes backed up with a strong malt backbone.

Pours a bright, bubbly golden with a big, frothy white head that lasts a long time. Aroma is more subtle, with floral and citrus notes. I get mostly orange and grapefruit. The impressions from the nose translate to the taste, with the taste being a bit sharper. Here, I really get the orange flavors. Some lemon also. I do get some yeastiness as well. Light in body with some good, fizzy carbonation. Aftertaste lingers and consists of that tropical orange along with yeast. Not bad, and pretty refreshing.

330 ml bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Very highly carbonated upon opening, but not infected. I let it dissipate before drinking. Pours moderate hazy/cloudy orange/amber color with a 2-3 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with outstanding retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, peach, light pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, peach, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, peach, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a god bit. Damn nice complexity, balance, and robustness of citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very nice pale ale style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

My favourite Moa brew, this is well balanced with floral hops and lingering bitterness. Can be cloudy if not poured carefully, so not one to take to a picnic

Pours amber/orange with a fluffy, persistent head. On palate, bittering hops eclipse aroma hops from from to finish. Dank, earthy hops suggest an English style rather than an APA. Overall, for those who like a bitter, earthy PA.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy lighter amber color with a moderately thick off-white head on there. There is some floral and grassy notes to the aroma, but it smells a bit stale, like it’s sat on the shelf too long. Taste is somewhat bitter, but again, does not really come across fresh. OK, but not much to grab onto here.

750ml champagne bottle into pint glass. Fruity hop nose, dry spice earth. Very cloudy almost copper colour. Solid white head. Medium body followed by short sharp hop finish. S’alright.

Rebranded Southern Pacific IPA and according to a sales rep, it was given more of a hop kick. Pours sunset orange with a white head that doesn’t stick around for the party. Aroma is mostly floral with some citrus notes. Taste is malt balanced for the style but the Nelson Sauvin hops come through with their fruity floral notes. Not quite full bodied with moderate carbonation and a sweetish finish.

Poured from 12z bottle at Oak + Char. It had massive foam problems. Once I could smelll and Taste it it was fine. Spicy tropical aroma. Good hops and a citrus taste. Would have again

Pours a cloudy orangey copper with a massive white head that takes forever to settle and leaves tons of lace. Aroma is pale malts, Belgian yeast, lightly spicy, and faint citrus. Flavour is Belgian yeast, spicy, citrus, grass, pale malts, and a mild-medium bitterness.

Pours an over carbonated hazy orangish copper with a huge frothy white head. Aroma of grass, pale malts, tropical fruits and citrus. Taste is pine, tropical fruits, white wine, complex bitterness and white wine type dryness that make this ipa awesome. Overall it’s complex, malty, hoppy and slightly medicinal but all in balance with no harshness.
