Moa Pale Ale is a New Zealand take on a popular North American beer style. Using famous Cascade and Nelson Sauvin hops, the dominant features in this beer are unique to New Zealand and the Moa bottle conditioned brewing method. Its hoppy strength displays powerful floral, citrus and tropical notes, and like its northern cousins is a beer best enjoyed just below room temperature.

Tasting Notes
While the intensity of the typical Nelson hop bitterness is well presented in Moa Pale Ale, there are also luscious sweet malts and bright passion fruit flavours. Offering a heightened complexity, this exceptional beer displays flinty and mineralistic characters. Moa Pale Ale is best served at approximately 6˚C in a tulip glass.

Another stunner from this great brewery. Cloudy orange pour with a tenacious and lively beige head. Nose of pineapple, lemon and orange zest, peppery/spicy Nelson Sauvin hops. Also some toasted malt in there, well balanced with the hops. Taste is sort of an international trifecta... hop level of a great American pale ale, the great hop profile of Nelson from down under, and a biscuity malt profile from the UK. Cheers!

Dervock (430) - Emu plains, AUSTRALIA - JUL 4, 2014
Bottle - pours hazy golden orange with a frothy white head. Lot of fruit on the aroma, caramel malt and hop resin. Some fruit on the taste, even bitterness, taste doesn’t fulfil the promise of the aroma.

Hazy golden honey pour with a small eggshell crown. This one is all about thick, sweet, earthy, and tropical fruit. A bit cloying compared to the style. Meh.

330ml bottle, a gusher, loads of foam and ended up with less than half a pint. Head is foamy, body is hazy golden brown. Aroma has caramel malts with grassy and piney hop, with hints of the Nelson passion fruit flavours. Not overly hoppy. Finish is very bitter but pleasant. Carbonation soft. Decent enough, but would have to try again a different bottle

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2014 Sampled on draft at the Gordon Ramsay Pub in Las Vegas this beer poured a dark amber color with a small foamy off white head that faded quickly and left good lacing. The aroma was dry, spritzy citrus and perfume. The flavor was dry and bitter - noticeably lacing in malt and had perfumey hops and a bit of Windex. Medium length dry and bitter perfume finish. Medium body. Meh.

Golden colour, but a little cloudy. Small to medium head. Medium malt alternate. Excellent all round pale ale.

Lagerboy (1169) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 21, 2014
750 ml corked and caged bottle, big champagne pop, wee gusher. Starts unclear orange copper, ends murky due to all the sediment, huge airy off-white foam eventually settles and lasts. Aroma is yeasty and floral, fruity citrus hop, some c-malt. Taste is spicy yeast, citrus grapefruit and pale c-malt, juicy tropical fruitiness increases as it warms. Lively carbonation, light-medium bodied, well hopped. Really enjoyable. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

This is a great beer to start an evening with, I had the 750ml bottle which is a performance with foil cork and cage. The Hoppiness is nice and is well balanced, and the whole thing is rather subdued and muted, but not to the lack of enjoyment. Full carbonation too. It’s ok.

Bottle. Orange-caramel malt and strong earthy lemon peel aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with small head. Sweet orange-toffee malt and moderately bitter earthy orange peel flavor. Good body. Nice.

Bottle. Aroma hoppy, resiny, slightly stale. Hazy orangeish golden colour. Gusher. Taste is earthy, sourish, winey. Tart hoppy finish. Average.
