COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa Pale Ale is a New Zealand take on a popular North American beer style. Using famous Cascade and Nelson Sauvin hops, the dominant features in this beer are unique to New Zealand and the Moa bottle conditioned brewing method. Its hoppy strength displays powerful floral, citrus and tropical notes, and like its northern cousins is a beer best enjoyed just below room temperature.

Tasting Notes
While the intensity of the typical Nelson hop bitterness is well presented in Moa Pale Ale, there are also luscious sweet malts and bright passion fruit flavours. Offering a heightened complexity, this exceptional beer displays flinty and mineralistic characters. Moa Pale Ale is best served at approximately 6˚C in a tulip glass.

33cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours a murky golden-orange with a slim creamy head. The nose has grapefruit and pith note and this is pretty much replicated on the taste. The palate is close to medium body with a creamy texture and a very dry clean finish. Very single dimensional but a very nice single dimension. This has many of the characteristics of a craft cask beer,

The über camp presentation of these Moa beers would certainly keep me away if not for the fact that they are indeed extraordinary brews. Fabulous aroma in this APA, hard to believe it’s done with American hops, with this cocktail of passion fruit and lychees. OK, I just read it’s got Nelson Sauvin, there you go. As other New Zealand APAs, this Moa Pale Ale is a lot more interesting than the average APA, which I confess is not one of my favourite styles. The flavour is a bit more one-dimensional, sharp bitter as an APA should be. Palate is a tad chalky. Good beer!

Kinda grassy kinda malty but overall a decent pale ale. Worth a try. I've had worse that's for sure. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled@HBF2013. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, tropical fruits, mild toffee and some slight nectary sweetness. Flavour is bready, floral, fruity, wooden and has some quite swqeet sugary notes as well. Dry grassy and floral aftertaste.

very translucent without much head. tropical aroma but more subdued in flavour when hop bitterness and solid malt backbone provide support. not much to criticise but not much to evangelise either.

Orange body, white head. Aroma has caramelly malts, exotic fruits, soap and cannabis odour in nice balance. Dry and really good.

330 ml bottle. HBF 2013, Helsinki, Finland.
Cloudy amber colour with a tiny white head. Mild hops, grapes and mild bitterness in the rather mild aroma. Flavour is great with Nelson Sauvin hops, grapes and some flouriness. Tasty and balanced.

Bottled. Hazy orange in color with a small whitish head. Orange peel, some lemony juiciness and floral notes in aroma. Light dishwasher notes and some citrus in taste. Some tropical fruityness as well. Dry, but fruity aftertaste.

330 ml bottle @ HBF2013. Pours a cloudy orange colour with a white head. Aroma of burnt grains, strong hay and sourness. Flavour of strong grainy malts, sourness, berries and cupcakes. Light bodied, slick mouthfeel and a weird off-flavour driven finish. Probably past it’s prime.
