COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa St Josephs is brewed in the traditional style of a classic Belgian Tripel. Strong spice and clove characters create complex flavours and aromas which are heightened by its extended bottle conditioning, with a combination of malt and candy sugars complimenting the high alcohol content produced by the Belgian ale yeast. Best served at 8°C in a goblet after gently rolling the bottle to distribute the sediment signature.

Tasting Notes
Moa St Josephs is a true abbey style tripel with strong clove and spice flavours apparent with a noticeable fruit ester profile. Smokey phenolic characters can be detected. The bitterness is designed to be complimentary rather than dominant. Moa St Josephs is a complex beer that has no added herbs or spices, and is best served at approximately 8˚C in a tulip glass.

375ml bottle from WF, Durham. On the strength of two previous Moa beers, though I’d take a crack. Nice vigorous pour, a healthy bright orange with a jaunty foam cap. Fairly sweet nose, rich malts, pungent fruits, some candy, along with yeast and some drier notes. Seems to lack the quirkiness and complexity I’ve enjoyed in their other brews. That holds true more or less in the taste, which is solid (if still a bit sweet) but not especially distinctive.

Magnum bottle thanks to noodleuser. Poured a golden-orange color with a wispy, white head. Flavor is solid malts, notes of sweetness. Some peppery notes. Drinkable.

1.5L thanks to noodleuser. Clear golden pour, weaker white foam. Nose is a bit vegetal, sugar cube, fumey alcohol. Taste is quite dusty, very grainy, chalky. Papery finish. Some stale grain character throughout.

Magnum courtesy of noodleuser, thanks! Clear golden color, small white head. Aroma of lightly peppered straw. Taste is bitter hay, white pepper.

sugar and spice do not make all things nice. along with that there’s a bit of banana yeast, otherwise alcoholic water predominates in a rather un pleasant way. aroma of alcohol, sugar and yeast seems a bit nicer. horribly thin underneath the flavour as well. not the worst, but not good at all.

12oz bottle. Large off-white head atop murky apple cider body. Aroma is moderately sweet, cotton candy, cantaloupe, some orange, banana, spice, light alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet, Belgian yeast, straw, berry/cantaloupe, light alcohol, orange. Effervescent medium body.

December 2011. From a corked bottle. Pours amber/orange with a white head. Aroma of dried fruits, caramel, spice with a long finish. Good beer even thogh this is not your traditional trippel.

One finger of head on a hazy, medium straw colored body. The aroma is bright with lemon and grapefruit with some dry grain. The taste is disjointed at the beginning then moves to lemon bitterness, alcohol heat and grain. The texture is crisp with a little fizz. An enjoyable ale.

Disappointingly small head. (That’s what she said!) Tasty but nowhere near as complex as the best tripels.

Slightly hazy orange amber with a rocky head and a lace curtain. The taste is malt, toffee, candied citrus, and waffles, growning through the palate to a fizzy lightly bittered alcohol finish. A solid brew, perhaps not strong enough to match the abv, but good for sipping none the less. Recommended.
