COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa St Josephs is a classic Belgian Tripel. Strong spice, caramel and banana ester characters create complex flavours and aromas which are heightened by its extended bottle conditioning period. The combination of bittering hops, malt and candy sugars compliment the high alcohol content and integrate into a very approachable and drinkable Tripel.

Tasting Notes
Moa St Josephs is a true abbey style tripel with strong clove and spice flavours apparent with a noticeable fruit ester profile. Smokey phenolic characters can be detected. The bitterness is designed to be complimentary rather than dominant. Moa St Josephs is a complex beer that has no added herbs or spices, and is best served at approximately 8˚C in a tulip glass.

It isn’t a dark golden as I thought it might be, you have to work for the cloudiness the yeast settles firmly, but it’s rewarding when it pours. Sweet but not all sweet and there is a top of bitterness to temper it. Overall it’s ok, but not outstanding.

Tap. Clear golden pour with a spotty white head. Mild esters but also some plastic on the aroma. Fairly bitter for the style. A touch of medicinal notes late. Hint of smoke. Odd beer.

MadRobin (2292) - Silver Spring, USA - SEP 30, 2014
Poured from 350 ml bottle at Quarry House Tavern in Silver Spring, MD. Hazy, golden color with a surprisingly small off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of lemon, malt, plums, apple, banana and yeast. Taste of yeast, caramel, light fruit, muted citrus and spices. On the sweet side, but with a nice touch of bitterness. Medium body and medium/low carbonization with a silky mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy gold, 2 finger frothy white head. Aromas of banana, honey, spices. Taste is sweet. Honey on toast, orange marmalade, spices. Quite full bodied. Enjoyable if not overly complex tripel.

375 ml purchase at the Craft Beer Cellar in Waterbury (VT) on August 19, 2014. Honey blonde, no head. Hoppy and spicy apple aroma, a bit malty. Sweet spiciness and dry hoppiness, some notes of juiciness, dry mineral aftertaste. The taste is interesting, but that is about it!

Bottle (trade with Patrickctenchi for an oxidized Klingon beer 4-pack). Musty lemon peel and malt aroma. Hazy golden yellow with giant white head. Sweet-musty lemon malt and bitter lemon peel flavor. Not bad.

On draught at Apex. Slightly hazy golden color. Aroma is citrus, plum, yeast funk, and spice. Taste is sweetly funky, with dank yeast, green grapes, plum, citrus, pepper spice, and a touch of bitterness. Bittersweet sour fruit and yeast finish. A not overly sweet tripel.

Good, solid Tripel but not complex. Hazy orange pour, not much nose (a little lemon zest), the palate is cooked citrus fruit and marmalade jam, well-balanced, integrating its 9.5% ABV, not a strong on the banana, which is good, a little spice and clove. Overall, a pleasantly drinkable Tripel but not much complexity.
