4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Right from the pour, I knew this was going to be good. Huge fluffy head, lasts a while too. Buttery, herbal aroma, right on target. One of the better tripels I’ve had in a while, and from the USA to boot! Good all around....

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber. Nicely spicy and simple but good yeast character. Pretty dry. Carbonation is a little low for a tripel.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A tripel. Nothing more, nothing less. If you’ve had many tripels, you’ve had this before. From large bottle with considerable amounts of sediment.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Apple-ish fruit, earthy, lightly sweet aroma. Earthy yeast and sweet malt flavor; a little fruit. Moderate bitterness. Seems really sweet for the style--but not super cloying.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20
1 qt, 0.815 oz giant swingtop bottle. The inside of the bottleneck on this has a film of gunk in it...not cool. Pours hazy yellow with a nice white pillowy head with great retention. Aroma is cloying sweet, dough, overripe bananas. Taste is also cloyingly sweet. This is a somewhat old bottle (I don’t see a date or vintage, but the price sticker says 2012, so it should still be good, I would think). I didn’t give this a high score, but I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt that this is better fresh and not giving it even worse than a 2.2 score. Two year old tripels should still be just fine if brewed right!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I purchased the large quart bottle with pop cap. The beer has the expected aggressive white head of the style, but it drops out too fast. The beer has a nice golden yellow color that is cloudy. The taste is too sweet for the style, and not very complex. Hints of light fruit are overpowered by the sugar flavor. There’s a hint of spiciness, maybe pepper. There’s not the typical crisp bite of Belgian yeast, but it does break through a little in the after taste. It could be that the beer I drank is too young; this is a bottle conditioned beer. I’d expect over time for the head to develop and the sweetness to fade.
The beer is not to style, but it is a gentle trippel. A bit too sweet though.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
This was an ok tripel. Yeasty with a light appearance. Fruit and citrus on the nose. Dry aftertaste with a nice mouthfeel. Winchell brought this in SLC and brought it back to Lawrence in 2013.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
1L swing top bottle @ home. Pours lightly hazy gold with a small, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is cellar notes, pear and apple fruity esters, cracker and Pils malt with light spicy hops. Flavor is dry malt with Belgian candi sugar sweetness, pear and apple fermentation fruity esters, light hops and bitterness, malt balanced and a dry finish. Full body, medium carbonation, medium alcohol warmth, and no creaminess or astringency.
