COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our steamer beer is a unique 100% style lager. Brewed with a special strain of lager yeast that works better at warmer temperatures. This method dates back to the late 1800s, when refrigeration was a greater luxury. Amber in color, medium bodied with a malty character. Mildly fruity with an assertive hop bitterness and a crisp clean finish

Can from Brewforia. Pours orange amber with a slight head. Aroma is pretty malty. Sort of towards roasty. Med body or nearly. Flavor is roasty malt with some fruit/floral notes, and something rendering it bitter. Itís not exactly dry, but seems hoppy and bitter in the finish. Decent drink.

Can at home. Pours clear amber with a large, creamy and rocky beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast malt, earthy and minty hops with light apple notes. Flavor is moderate toast malt, medium earthy and minty hops, medium bitterness, well balanced and a dry, clean finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Can from a very generous trader. Douglas? I canít remember. Itís been awhile. I didnít realize this was a California Common until now. Thanks! Pours amber with white head. Nose/taste of toffee malt, toasted biscuit, bready malt and light spicy hops. Dry crisp finish. Medium body.

Soupy-goopy American amber malt dullness (amaretto / marzipan, caramel chew, toffee) with apple / pear esters as seen in so many Oktoberfest "lagers" which never see a day below 60 F. Nutty, woody, peppery and pithy hop bitterness with mothball and ethanol off-notes. Moderately carbonic / acidic and slightly lactic / yogurt-like starchy and bitter finish. Basic Amber ale disguised as a lager.

16oz can pours with a clear deep amber body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet fruity ester notes like red apples mixing with a mild malt roastiness, faint caramel malts and then pears at the end of the draw. The taste has a moderate degree of roasted malts and some biscuit malts to go along with sweet lager yeast esteriness thatís a little apple and nectarine like. This is pretty nice except I wasnít expecting any biscuit malts or roastiness and as such it seems out of place.

16oz can, from Perfect Pour in Elkridge. Shared with local raters. Darker hazy amber orange color. Thin off-white head. Dots of lace. Looks decent. Good caramel malt, some vanilla. Light bit of pepper. Kind of a malty sweeter taste. Medium body. Lightly slick texture. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Kind of creamy. Easy-enough to drink. Solid flavorful amber lager. Good bigger complex flavor to it, good sweetness. Could pass as a solid amber ale, really.

Can. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is medium to dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, malt syrup, sugar cookie), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, apricot), with a light note of diacetyl. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, syrupy/watery texture, lively carbonation. The sugary nose certainly portends the syrupy sweet mouth experience. Mediocre.

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2012 16 ounce can. A sweet fruity hop nose, some leaves. A rich sweet smooth even slightly bitter hop flavor, some dustiness, very smooth and tasty. Certainly some sweet fruity malts. Very refreshing, a good beer. On tap at the Brewpub. Pours a copper color with a small white head. The aroma is sweet caramel, earthy, some butterscotch (not diacetal). The flavor is an interesting dusty and dry caramel and light fruity hop mix. Very drinkable and tasty. Light but nice.
