A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. A light sweet chocolate aroma with light lactic points. In mouth, a nice chalky chocolate with nice bitterness, a bot herbaceous. On tap at VT Brewers Fest, July 17 2010.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2005 On tap at the brewpub, March 2004:
Slight smoke emanating from an oily, roasted skin...Flat and headless, the sweet charcoal slowly burns...The morning after an uneventful campfire...2.6/5

On tap at the Blue Mermaid in Portsmouth, NH, December 2005:
In much better condition this time, or maybe it has simply improved? Very well-roasted malts coupled with coffee bean sweetness and grapey fruitiness. Quite strong carbonation, but not nitroed (woohoo!). A decent, well-brewed, straightforward stout. 3.4/5

In short: An archetype of the basic session stout. Nice brew.
How: Tap at Vermont Brewer’s Festival 2010
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head
In long: Nose is very roasted. Taste has is very roasted, some coffee, some chocolate, some dark fruits. A pleasant bitterness that seems to come from the roastiness as much as the hops. Medium body, merdium carbonation. All in all this is a very standard stout with a bit of everything. Nothing special but it is nonetheless a beer I could drink all night long. Another decent session beer from this brewpub that with no reputation, or so I have been told numerous times.

(Rating #1128)

tiggmtl (4548) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 19, 2004
Plenty of roasted malts and light sweetness in the aroma. Opaque black with thin white fully diminishing head. Simple and roasty with slight sticky malt sweetness. Low carbonation and still mouthfeel with somewhat watery body. On tap at the Vermont Brewers Festival.

muzzlehatch (4424) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - JUL 19, 2004
Sample at the Vermont Brewers’ Fest. Thick black. Nose very faint, roasty. Lightly vinous, medium bittersweet chocolate-coffee body, weak, with a bitter finish. Too light to support the bitterness, too little sugar.

Pours black into a shaker. Mocha micro head with good retention recedes leaving thin sheets. Chocolate aromas. Dry with sweet milk chocolate upfront to back and into the lasting espresso finish.
