RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Jun 15, 2008 Bottled. Pretty much water with some beer flavoring. Still marginally better than Corona. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Jun 13, 2008 12 oz bottle from Country Club Liquors; Nose is grainywith a little grassiness; gold with a medium white head; flavor is grainy with a peppery note, slight sweetness, and a slight bit of bitterness; finish is slightly sweet then turns slightly bitter. Not bad for a pale lager. Wulfstan (509), California, USA Jun 13, 2008 This is quite a decent macro lager and actually tastes more like a German pilsner than most such beers, particularly those from the US< Canada, or Mexico. It’s faintly darkish gold with a medium white head steadily shrinking to a foaym ring and a hint of very weak lace. The aroma is soft grain, with hints of lemon, pine, honey, and herbs, and the faintest hint of soap. It has a light German element to the otherwise pretty good macro New World lager quality. The taste, especially at first, is more noticeable German, with a clear German herbal/grass/pine hop dominance at first, with honey and a very faint hint of grain, a light bitterness just dominating the faint grain sweetness. This soon fades, though, and the overall character degrades slightly, becoming more muddled, bland, and with a faint minerally-soapy quality coming through, but still staying pretty good. It’s a lbit on the watery side, but not heavily so. Overall, it’s drinkable, with a stronger character & flavour, and certainly more hop presence and flavour than most US/Mexican/Canadian macro lagers and is quite good. It also has no real off-flavours aside from the very faint, brief soapiness mentioned. Derek881 (486), Frederick, Maryland, USA Jun 9, 2008 I had quite a few of these beers while on vacation in Mexico. Dubbed the "working class beer" by my sister, it fit the bill. The color was clear gold, with a small, bubbly white head. It had a corny, grainy hop aroma; not much malt to speak of. The flavor was mostly bitter with a bit of sourness. A thin, dry beer with little carbonation and not much of a mouthfeel. Overall it was one that was easy to drink in the heat, but not much on character. Ober (1158), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands Jun 3, 2008 I was for 2 weeks on a holiday in Mexico. I taste several local beers. First of all I’ll give a general personal opinion. All the beers were served to cold. There was no, or almost no foam. If you ordered a beer, you always have to ask for a glass, which is also very cold. Always there was a lemon in the bottle. If you like it and put the lemon in your beer, than every beer would taste almost the same, because of the strong taste of a fresh lemon. The temperature in Mexico makes it understandably to serve cold beer. But you loose the real taste of the beer.
A clear, very light yellow colored beer, with no head. I couldn’t smell an aroma. The taste was like a watery apple juice. A bad example of a lager DWestrick (234), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 1, 2008 Bottle. Not impressive. Wish I didn’t have to write 75 words detailing how this beer is boring. Not for me GG (1609), NorCal, California, USA May 30, 2008 I’ve had this one on tap, out of the bottle and out of a can (12 oz and a 24 oz can). This is what most of the local Mexican’s drink, so if/when I go over to their house for a get together this is usually whats served. This was the case this past weekend, so I figured what the hell. It’s free so why not rate. The beer is a very nice color of gold with a medium white head. Initial aroma was skunk and corn. After a few minutes, it was still skunk and corn. Flavor had some grainyness to it, some skunk (it was a clear glass bottle after all) with just a touch of sweetness to it. Decent enough Mexican swill, but nowhere near the best they have to offer. Maverick34 (686), New York, USA May 29, 2008 yeah, well, I didn’t have an opener, and we were on the way back form the mets game. And you know what? bottled, I have no shame - twas not THAT bad.
