This is what most of the local Mexican’s drink, so if/when I go over to their house for a get together this is usually whats served. This was the case this past weekend, so I figured what the hell. It’s free so why not rate. The beer is a very nice color of gold with a medium white head. Initial aroma was skunk and corn. After a few minutes, it was still skunk and corn. Flavor had some grainyness to it, some skunk (it was a clear glass bottle after all) with just a touch of sweetness to it. Decent enough Mexican swill, but nowhere near the best they have to offer. | 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 6/20 | May 15, 2008 Not an exciting brew really, but compliments spicey mexican dishes very well. Pours a clear amber colour with a small frothy head. strong hop aroma with a smooth creamy taste. Finishes a bit on the watery side. gfolivares (67), McAllen, Texas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 14, 2008 Poors a deep golden color with good white head. Aromas of sweet malt and grain, caramel, and faint hops. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Gentle, sweet malt taste with moderate hop bitterness, and a crisp, clean finish. More flavor than your average Mexican pale lager, but not up to par with its sibling Negra Modelo. Try with shrimp cocktail, ceviche, or panchos loaded with fajitas. robertjm (401), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | May 13, 2008 My choice for Cinco de Mayo 08 (though didn’t drink it that day). Frankly very lightweight lager. Tastes like watered down Pilsner Urquel, so the base is very good, except for the wateryness.
