jb (1023), Rochester, New York, USA Jan 26, 2008 Had this alongside a nice spicy Mexican meal today and it worked well in that context. Served with a lime, the fruitiness of the lime played a big part, showing up in the aroma and flavor. Palate was delicate with a sweetness of honey. Appearance was very dull, pale and headless. zathrus13 (1288), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA Jan 22, 2008 Yellow, with a white head. Aroma is corn and grain. Flavor is mostly corn and maybe a little bit of hops. Collint (450), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Jan 20, 2008 24 oz can. Poures little head, pretty much none. Smells like corn and kinda funky when I first opened it. It is a unique beer. Nothing too impresive. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Jan 19, 2008 12oz bottle-A darker golden body with a very small ring for a head and an aroma of nothing. Taste of a liitle malt and hops along with some corn. Not a bad tasting mxican brew. FLnative80 (174), Orlando, Florida, USA Jan 15, 2008 Can. 12 fl. oz. Golden yellow with white, thin, disappearing head. Very light grain aroma. Thin body with a slightly dry texture. Not much to the flavor. Just a fair amount of bitterness. Goes down easy without any overpowering skunkiness. I’ll take a cooler full of these to the beach anyday. JDUB (170), Beautiful Venice Beach, California, USA Jan 9, 2008 24 oz tall boy. Pasadena, CA. Snow in the local mountains following a stormy weekend - lots of muddy mountain biking - awesome. Sorry, that all excites me more than the beer. I mean hey, is anyone actually reading up on Modelo Especial ratings for real connoisseur insights???
Actually, this ain’t that bad for a "brown-baggin’ it" kind of evening at the local mini mart. Light fizzy yellow (trivia, author?: "Fizzy Yellow Beer is for Wussies"). Hay aroma with a slight manufactured fruity sweetness. cheap lager flavor. Ahhh, at $1.99 it’ll do. Hinez57 (129), Clinton, Mississippi, USA Jan 4, 2008 It is what it is. Way better than American Lite beers, equivilent to a Budwieser. Pale, thin head, lively mouthfeel, highly carbed, and a thin body. Flavor is kind fo bitter and lacking any real flavor. On the plus side, you don’t really taste the rice/corn adjuncts. Why drink this when you can have a Boddingtons, it won’t overpower anyone with flavor, but at least what’s there taste good. Better than most mass produced pale lagers. Not nearly as good as the Negro version! BMan1113VR (2752), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Jan 4, 2008 Poured from a 12 oz aluminum can, very classy, I know. Aroma is faint with light lemon, light dough, mild apple and pear (maybe to all of the above). Pours medium yellow with a small white head that goes away far to quickly. No lacing (big suprise I am sure). Initial flavor is sweet followed by bitter and then something bad at the end. Not to pleasent. I have a faint memory of the stuff tasting better out of the bottle, but that is not what I rated.
