maeib (4677), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Nov 8, 2006 Updated: Oct 23, 2009Bottled. Wow, this is worse than I imagined. A lifeless orange coloured beer which has a predominant character of cabbage water. Vegetables in both the taste and smell. Some sweet typical Mexican swill taste going on also. My third Mexican mass produced lager which scores 0.7. Good work amigos.Score 0.7 Subsequent rating scored 1.0. Average becomes 0.8 GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Nov 6, 2006 I refuse to go into detail about this beer. It smells better than Bud and tastes a little better. dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Nov 5, 2006 12 oz. Bottle. Despite the clear bottle, it doesn’t smell skunked. A clean malt aroma, typical of Mexican cervesa. Medium body and smooth. While not too distinguishing, it beats the Corona, Tecate, Sol type. I actually liked this beer. It did not have all that much taste, but I think that it is far superior to Corona in almost every single way. Definately a very light beer, but a light beer can be a good beer if made right and I think that this one was. People should stop being biased against Mexican beers so much, even though most are pretty poor. altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Oct 30, 2006 Bottle at Dan’s house. Pretty flat lager. Tastes of corn. Sweet with bitter fade out. HarryFlashman (469), Chatham, Kent, England Oct 26, 2006
An average lager, but I preferred this to Corona, Dos Equis and Sol when in Mexico. Not sure why, but preferred withoot lime. The dark version is better. BeerBelcher (930), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 24, 2006 I’ve consumed enough beer at Mexican restaurants to have had this beer before, but I’d never really thought about what it tasted like and actually thought to compare to...other beers.
Appearance is slightly darker than most mainstream American lagers. There is little to no head and no lacing of any kind. Nothing about this particular example of this beer indicates that anything special went into the manufacture (I hesitate to use the word brewing) of this beer (this is from a can). Smell is practically non-existent. Taste is very much of corn, and is rather sweet, like Coors Light, which I find slightly unpleasant. The next time I have Mexican food, I suspect I’ll save myself a few $$’s and drink something domestic instead...it won’t be missed.
