twistedviews (67), California, USA Aug 5, 2009 crisp for sure, cheap beer, but not my recommendation. good price for its flavor. MmmcKay (269), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA Aug 3, 2009 An easy to drink beer that doesn’t impress or disappoint. Crisp and clean, light bodied beer that is good for the summer. Needs to be ice cold. As it warms flaws jump out. rampmaster (314), Alden, New York, USA Jul 25, 2009 Presentation: It was poured from a clear bottle into a Pilsener glass.
Appearance: The body has very good clarity, some visible carbonation and a bright golden color. It forms only a small bright white head that fades fast. The fast fading head is reduced to just a small ring of foam that makes some slick lacing.
Smell: The aroma is full of adjunct filled malt with some dry hay and grassy hops.
Taste/Mouth: There are some mild corny and grainy flavors with some other cooked vegetable notes and grassy hay like notes. The finish is very clean with some mild bitterness quickly fading off the tongue. The palate is crisp and easy drinking with a light to medium body and nice active carbonation.
Notes: Not bad at all and when served ice cold it works well to clean the palate of hot spicy Tex/Mex food.
odannyob (5), Colorado, USA does not count Jul 19, 2009 a true middle-of-the-road mexican beer. an 18 pak for 12.99; a sprinkle of lime salt across the foamless top (poured it real slow) and it’s hot outside, too and i’m inside and it tastes good right now. MrRoss (614), Delta, British Columbia, Canada Jul 16, 2009 This was a quite okay Mexican beer, and I do like the Modelo bottles. It poured a nicely carbonated clear medium gold, with a smallish white head; no lacing going on with this one. Aroma was blatantly hopped with some floral underpinnings, and so was the taste and I mean this in a positive sense. Mouthfeel was crisp and clean yet at the same time smooth. I’ve no qualms about drinking this beer again. HighWine (163), , California, USA Jul 13, 2009 Generally my choice when offered a choice of beers at a Mexican restaurant. Not much in the way of aroma or color, but the flavor isn’t bad. Just really too thin for my tastes, but a decent malt/hop balance, nonetheless. Palate is moderate but I only go to this beer when I’m really thirsty anyway. RapeBeer (10), Indiana, USA Jul 12, 2009 I usually tend not to trust beers from Romance countries or their subsequent colonies, but I’ll take these silly Mexican beers over their shitty American counterparts (Coors, Bud Lite, etc) anyday. While I prefer Modelo Nega to the Especial, the shitty, over-priced liquor store in Broad Ripple only had Especial cold. I bought a 12-pack (extremely over-priced for what I was getting: $12 for the box). It’s not a great beer by any means. The flavor is minimal, which is probably good. It had a smoother taste than most of it’s cheap American counterparts. But it was an easy drink. No kickback, no bite (for better or for worse) and no real lasting impressions. But I did manage to easily get drunk off of these little dudes as I had no problem drinking them in rapid succession. Great beer for casual drinking and adds a superficial ethnic flair to most gatherings. GardenGabe (125), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 3, 2009 Crystal clear yellow with a thin white head. Smells of corn. Taste is slightly sweet with a hit of a chemically bitter finish. Light on the tongue, somewhat watery.
