jgentgesdo (564), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Oct 20, 2005 Pours clear golden with thin head and racing bubbles. Nose is very plain and smells faintly of corn and fuggles. The flavor has small initial bitterness that fades into mildly bitter faint maltiness. Thin metallic aftertaste. Pretty good pale lager. Misformore (34), Colorado, USA Oct 19, 2005 Pretty good for a mexican beer. I’d have it again instead of a Corona. Try it you might like it, but don’t forget the lime. smeltfisher (40), Mississippi, USA Oct 18, 2005 Better than Corona, but is that saying much? It doesn’t have a real skunky after-taste, but perhaps because it doesn’t have much taste. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Oct 15, 2005 Had on the riverwalk...Has nice bitters to it, i was actually quite surprised to taste it, but the bitters were good, decent mouthfeel too, not that bad of a swiller!! Strykzone (1458), Wood River, Illinois, USA Oct 4, 2005 There is definitely something distinct about Mexican beers. They have a "lime-nes" to each and every one of them. Modelo Especialo is an example. It went great with a burrito but my guess is it would not work with a football game. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Sep 20, 2005 Skunky corn cheap lager aroma. Smells of pay day bars and cheap hookers. No pleasure in this one, just the flavor of discontent. jmcguire1969 (149), Lafayette, Colorado, USA Sep 13, 2005 This is your classic Mexi schwag vienna lager style of brew. Nothing special but goes well with chips, salsa and Carne Asada. Negra is better but this one is a better ingredient in my wife’s favorite Margarita recipe. This is strictly an ambiance beer...something that will only accompany Mexican food or drink...Salud! TheEnemy (422), Chicago, USA Sep 6, 2005 Updated: Sep 7, 2005Thin, fizzy, grain-mash aroma and flavor. Standard mass-brew sourness. As with most Mexican lagers, one tiny step above American mass-brews but still with few redeeming qualities. I had higher hopes for this one figuring it would be on the same plane as the thoroughly enjoyable Negra Modelo. No such luck -- Corona with a different label.
