Jul 12, 2009 I usually tend not to trust beers from Romance countries or their subsequent colonies, but I’ll take these silly Mexican beers over their shitty American counterparts (Coors, Bud Lite, etc) anyday. While I prefer Modelo Nega to the Especial, the shitty, over-priced liquor store in Broad Ripple only had Especial cold. I bought a 12-pack (extremely over-priced for what I was getting: $12 for the box). It’s not a great beer by any means. The flavor is minimal, which is probably good. It had a smoother taste than most of it’s cheap American counterparts. But it was an easy drink. No kickback, no bite (for better or for worse) and no real lasting impressions. But I did manage to easily get drunk off of these little dudes as I had no problem drinking them in rapid succession. Great beer for casual drinking and adds a superficial ethnic flair to most gatherings.

Jul 3, 2009 Crystal clear yellow with a thin white head. Smells of corn. Taste is slightly sweet with a hit of a chemically bitter finish. Light on the tongue, somewhat watery.

Very similar to its pale Mexican lager brethren, it’s another one best enjoyed on a hot day, otherwise, I’d just grab the Negra version...

Jun 25, 2009 (bottle). Pours a clear golden/amber color. Spare white head which diminished instantly. Light grainy aroma and flavor. Short duration. No lacing. Soft carbonation.

Jun 18, 2009 Aroma was skunky. Head was short and had a straw colored body. Taste wasn’t anything special. Average lager.

Jun 12, 2009 12fl oz bottle poured into a dimpled mug. Clear golden with a tiny white head. Aroma is skunk at first. After the head dissipates, it smells like corn. The flavor is also corn and hops. Medium to high carbonation. Short bitter finish.
