I had this in a can on my AeroMexico flight to Cancun. Wow, this is truly boring! Just yellow and fizzy.Lightly malty, very thin. Like beer-flavored water. Why bother?

Guam SwillFest 2004: Pours yellow with a thin white head. Slightly skunky aroma, similar to the other beer I had earlier that had a coffee aroma. Light fruit taste followed by cardboard. Finishes kind of dry.

Just another Mexican beer, with a meringue-like head. Unfortunately, doesn’t measure up to the dark.

Blond beer with a small head. Hop aroma. The taste is hop and honey. Short light bitter finish.

On vacation in Mexico this was pretty much everywhere. Has a definite alcohol aroma. Taste and texture is a bit soapy in the mouth with an overwhelming corn flavor to boot. Now I know why they serve salt covered limes with their beers down south. Not that I am a fan of Mexican beers, but this seemed to be the one that the Mexicans were drinking the most so maybe they know something I don’t.

This tastes like everyother Mexican beer out there, but just a little worse. An almost soap like consistency and taste, and I thought it was just me. Pale fizzy golden color with little to no aroma, slightly metallic aftertaste. Just like Mohawksin said...

Bottle. Sweet and a hint of soapiness. Better than Corona, but not by much. Tastes good from the can, the metal overtakes the soap flavor.

The Worst beer I’ve ever had. I had it in Mexico and I wanted to puke. Its bitter, not crisp, and almost undrinkable. This is only good once you’ve had so many coronas that you can’t taste what you’re really drinking.

(Bottle) Another typical Mexican lager. Pale yellow and not that exciting...

Clearly inferior to its big brother Negra Modelo, Modelo Especial is still - among Tecate and Carta Blanca - one of the better Mexican brews. I don’t espect anything mind-blowing from Mexican brews anyway, but at least some a bit especial.
