This was a quite okay Mexican beer, and I do like the Modelo bottles. It poured a nicely carbonated clear medium gold, with a smallish white head; no lacing going on with this one. Aroma was blatantly hopped with some floral underpinnings, and so was the taste and I mean this in a positive sense. Mouthfeel was crisp and clean yet at the same time smooth. I’ve no qualms about drinking this beer again.

Modelo Especial has a thin, white, quickly-dissipating head, and a very clear, deep golden color. Carbonation is medium to high, and the lacing is ragged. The aroma is skunky and rancid, but I noticed once the initial whiff died off, the spoiled smell did not show up too much. It was just a typical American-style lager smell after that, meaning, not much of any smell. The taste is pretty rich and enjoyable, with enough hop presence to avoid a bland situation. Mouth-feel is light, watery, and slimy or soapy. Modelo Especial finishes light, semi-wet, and smooth. Overall, I was a whole lot more impressed than what I thought I’d be faced with upon getting the original skunk smell. Later, I tried the canned version, and it was quite good and not skunked.

Just back from visit to Mexico. Best commercial beer I tried in Mexico. Better than Corona, Sol or Dos Equis. I like the Negra also.

In bottle. Pours a golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma and flavours of bready yeast, caramel and grassy hops. Mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.

Decent Beer, good for a tallcan choice, overpriced however if you decide to get a 12pack or what not. Good with food.

So this is better than the mass produced American alternatives. It has an aroma and a little bit of taste. Unfortunately this beer sells as a premium for being an import. I don’t think i’m willing to pay a premium for this beer. It’s OK, but still a generic lager.
